Let me add a few more interesting points about the bull/horseman coins

Please note that a few others like Chahadadeva, Nazir ud din Masud,Rukn ud din Firoz, Shihab ud daula Madud, and Muiz ud din Bahram also issued bull and horseman coins. Another variety of bull on one side with different legends on the other have been issued by a few dozens of rulers like Razia, Nazir ud din Mahmud, Balban,Taj ud din Yildiz,Nazir ud daula Ibrahim, Ala ud daula Masud III, Malik Arsalan, yamin ud daula Ibrahim,Khusru Malik, Apurva chandra Deva, Triloka chandra Deva etc. They belong to the Delhi rulers, Sind rulers, Kangra rulers and the like.

Dear Dr. Sreedhar,

Please see the image of 4 asharfis with urdu/persian inscriptions. I don't know how to read them. For the Guineas, is it possible to send them to you by email?

Many thanks.

Dear sm789,
49-50 and 74-76 coins are Murshidabad mint issues of Bengal presidency. You can have reference at the following link
http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/in...topic=6289.0

53-54 and 75-77 show the same pattern but the design on the periphery of the flan is not familiar to me. Please confirm their metal and weight also. Please do further check up with Murshidabad issues.

Thanks

This coin below was posted in this thread in page no.6. Very nice design and calligraphy makes this one stand out. In spite of the good condition of the coin, it was not until recently that I was able to read the mint name as "Burhanpur". Burhanpur was conquered by Akbar in 1601.AD when the Khandesh ruler Bahadur Khan tried to declare independence. He held this city for only four years as his reign ended in 1605.AD. Ilahi year shows "4x" It should be between 44 and 49. From whatever little is seen on the coin,it can be 45 or 49. To me it looks like 45 because I am unable to make out any tail of 9. Akbar has issued some beautiful coins from Burhanpur. Given next is a Dam or Paisa from that mint but only the part "pur" is visible on the flan.
