Hello, I am new to this forum and to coin collecting. I recently came across several coins that look like these. Can anyone tell me anything about them? How can I study them further? Thank you.

All these coins except the first from left in the last row, second from left in the second row and the last one in the top row are of the Sultanate of Gujarat. The link https://goccf.com/t/94915 might be of some help to you.

Hi drnsreedhar, I just came across this tread and have a ? I just received a Bull and Horseman silver, 15mm, 3.1g coin, it is suppose to be a Drachm, I found one that says it is from 223-236AD, but than I found a lot more from 850 - 1000 AD and they are 1 Jital. I can't seem to pin it down, I know a pic would help but at this time I don't have one, will try and get one up. Thanks

Jitals were made for a long period across a large area - there are many types....

Thank you Dr. Shreedhar. What is the language and script used on these coins? Are the other three coins from same era? Is there a way to make sure these are genuine coins and not fakes? I was told they found these coins when a river bottom was dredged to get sand for construction. There are a lot of them around.

Hello Anjali, The language used is Persian and so is the script, PersoArabic. The coins posted seem genuine. It is good that the provenance of the coins is known. Please document that important piece of information.
The other coins also are of around the same age. The one at the bottom seems to be a Mughal one and the one on top of some Princely state. The other one I do not have any idea.
You can refer to one of the catalogues like Dilip Rajgor's or Goron and Goenka.

Hai mcshilling, Bull and horseman coins that belonged to the north western India were circulated for a very long period of around five centuries. But the period is AD rather than BC. The drachm coins must be of Khsatraps or their contemporaries. A picture might help.

Hi Dr. Shreedhar, I was hoping you could try to identify the following coins. These were taken from a copper utensil factory in Ahmedabad Gujarat Thanks Sunil

@grumpygupta: The coins are so badly worn out that they do not have sufficient legend left to identify. First and the third coins look very much like Gujarat Sultan coins. Third one could be of Nazir ud din Ahmad.

Dear Dr Sreedhar,
My parents have coins and some of them have urdu inscriptions. Can you please tell me how to understand what they mean? Also, they have a few Guineas. Do they have any value in excess of the actual gold value?
Many thanks for your reply.
