Are they an investment to you, or are they coins that you're collecting? That's the decision to be made.

LOL!

Errorcoins. I bought 3 sets. 1 for me and 2 for Xmas gifts. Now I find out that I may get to keep the 2 extra sets. All were opened and inspected closely since they were purchased as gifts and not investment sets. Would I have opened them if I knew I was going to keep them? YES!

LOL good one Bryan. But I do like looking at all those coins for possible errors.

One for me, one for my daughter and one for my unborn son.

The others I will sit on for years. Plus I bought some NGC PR69 RP off of ebay as well.

Coins are the only investment that I have made that have worked out well ... so far anyway...

Try stocks shortly after the year 2000.

Okay, they must have shipped them all!! Got my UNC ASE's too.

BUT A PROBLEM!! They put some orders together. I was going to send the 20 Anniv. sets for grading. Now they stuck some gold sets in the same box. (I tried cancelling tese two weeks ago but the "cancel" boxes where gone from the order site.

Then I got a box that I didn't get an e-mail shipping notification from the mint. AND, the FEDEX number isn't listed in my order account.

Will they give me info over the phone so I can figure what is where? Never tried talking to them before.

Also, how do I do the 20th Anniv. sets without grading the other stuff in the box?

Thanks,

Seth

I think the first thing you have to do is figure for sure what all is in your box. Once you do that, call the grading company you are going to send them to and ask them how they would handle this. If you instruct them to only grade certain coins and return the rest, how much extra will they charge for the shipping, etc. Are the gold sets the two coin gold and silver, or the three set gold, or other gold coins? I think the two coin set will be a sleeper value eventually (at least the graded ones with the 20th anniversary labels on them) because there are only 20,000 of them. I don't think it matters so much what type of coin it is. That special label will make them more valuable.

If there is an order number on the outside of the box, maybe you could go on the U.S. Mint site and track the number to see what it is.

I just received my first set and I didn't open it yet. Hopefully I'll receive the second set too, I kind of ordered late. I want to keep one and sell one and thinking of sending them NGC. Sure wish I can open them to make sure they'll get a high grade, no point in sending for grading if its lower grades.

WhatI am trying to do is figure out what is in each box. They combined shipments and split shipments.

I think you're correct about the 2 and 3-piece things. Unfortunately these are the Gold 4-piece UNC set and individual UNCs. I don't thinik they will go anywhere just because of the "specially burnished" hype. Somebody with more experience then me (wouldn't take much!) advise me (!?!?!)

UNLESS, are the gold UNCs they are selling direct just Overstock of the stuff they have been selling all year? Has anybody seen these yet?

I am going to keep one set, 2 each of 1/4 and 1/2 ounce and send the rest back.

The unc. gold coins that the Mint was selling are different from the bullion issues that can only be purchased from a dealer. The unc. coins have burnished planchets and they carry the West Point mm "W".
They started minting them very late in the year and the mintages are low- around 500,000 for the silver eagles and the gold coins(except the 1oz) have mintages of 10,000 or less.

My second set arrived too.

When they break the set to slab do they send you back the original set holder?
