Well, this is a very brave thread indeed.
You look like a very nice man. You do also fit the profile of what I would expect a coin collector to look like.
I won't upload a picture out of privacy issues, but I am young, strong, and fairly intimidating looking. That's probably why every time I go to a coin shop the owners treat me badly and stare at me, worried I might steal something.

I dont know what unit my dad was in but I know he was in the marines, he died a few years ago so I cant ask him. I never knew him till I was in highschool and my mom got back with him so to be honest I dont know alot about what he did. I do know he carried a m60 and stepped on a tripwire his second tour. he didnt loose his legs but had large gouges all over his legs and when you ran your hand over his head it felt like gravel under the skin I think that was shrapnel. he was disabled. Its nice to put a face to peoples names on here.

Nice to put a face to the name and posts. My picture is up there in that thread somewhere.
I also spend some time in Viet Nam with the Navy on the river with the Game Warden Program based out of Ben Thuy 1971-end of 72. Went back again in April 75 for the evacuation of Saigon, was on a ship than pushing Huey's overboard.

jwharper- I'm glad that you enjoy having younger members on this board. It seems that whenever I got to coin shows the youngest person there is in his (since it does usually seem to be 90-95% males) 40s.

I was 32 years old when I got my first Ancient, so that's been 30 years ago. My, how time flies. I guess the torch has to be passed eventually to the next generation, so I guess that's you younger crowd.

Do you still have it jw? I'd like to see it if you still do. My first two were the Gallienus and the Constantine II Caesar I posted a while back.

I do. It is a Marcus Antonius Legionary Denarius RSC 27 struck at Patrae 32-31 BC: OBV: ANT AVG III VIR are P C, Praetorian galley, thyrsos behind prow REV: LEG XI, eagle between standards  Thanks for asking. It's still one of my favorites JW |

It's cool to see there's a good age range on CCF, and how age doesn't seem to matter, except that I appreciate everyone's experience and help with my coins!  |

I suppose I'm the youngest here. I got my first coin when I was 16. Traded two Morgan Dollars(1881 CC and 1882 CC) for my very first Vespasian denarius and a Nero denarius with Salus on the reverse. This was 7 years ago and I still have those coins. I went on a couple of shows in New York and Philly(I used to live in South Jersey) and people were amazed that there was somebody my age on that kind of auction.
