Thanks everyone! Truly appreciate the comments! And jw, feels great to have it (or any of my other Romans) in my hands. It's awesome to be this close to actual history.

I really like Roman coins myself. Although, I never have owned one even in my old childhood collection. That's definitely a nice coin.

I am certainly planning on sticking around for awhile. This place seems worthwhile to contribute to and to receive help as well. I've already learned quite a bit. Believe it, I would love to own coins that old. Right now they are out of my budget range, even on ebay. Most of them anyways. I am not as interested in other ancient coins that old, mostly Roman coins.

Ok, I just found a way to find cheaper ones from this site and on ebay by using the advanced function.

Quote: Right now they are out of my budget range I'm always busting my budget as I believe many others do as well. However, you don't have to with Ancients. We've had this discussion on other threads, but many Roman coins can be purchased in excellent shape for $3-$10. As an example, I purchased this coin of CLAUDIUS II (GOTHICUS)for $9.99 plus shipping: And this coin of GRATIAN for $8.50 And this CRISPUS for $4.50 I could keep going to show how affordable this hobby can be. Now, to be honest, I have some coins that have cost me hundreds of dollars. But there is no reason to have to go there unless you want to. Take another look at buying some of these. In fact, I sent one of the other people on these threads a few of my duplicates earlier this week. I have one left. If you would like it, send me a PM with your contact information and you can have it for free. Regards, JW

Unfortunately, I don't see a PM feature. There is a send email but I tried that and I don't have enough posts to send one. But yes, I would really like to have that coin. Thanks so much for offering! Yes, I see that ancient coins are more affordable than what I thought. Although, I don't have an ebay account right now. Those coins you just posted are pretty nice. I like them.

I don't see anything in the rules stating that you can't give stuff away for free to people that have low post counts. It is quite clear about selling, trading and the like. Ok, thank you so much. I will send you an email real soon.

Like jw said, it's a great hobby, collecting Romans. For me it was a totally unexpected turn in my collecting habits. But I'm glad it happened. I too can speak from experience that they won't break the bank by collecting them. Most of the ones I've bought were relatively inexpensive (although my coin above cost me quite a bit of change). Anyways, welcome to Roman coin collecting!

BTW jw, when Gil-galad sends you his info, you should edit your email out of your post, or if the 24 hours for editing already passed, click "send a note to staff" to have a mod remove it.

JangoFett: Yes, those are some nice coins there. It's just amazing how affordable ancient coin collecting can be, based on what I discovered. I'm sure some are really expensive though.
Yes, he should remove his email address because there might be spam bots operating here, not sure but possible. And these pages seem to be searchable by Google. I saw a few pop up on search results that I made.

Ok, ok. Email address removed. Quote: I'm sure some are really expensive though Yes, of course, some can be very expensive. Most of the people on this forum know I am in the market for a Caligula Denarius. The cheapest I've seen in many years of looking has been around $1800. I have a few coins I have spent several hundred dollars, but they are rare. Most of my coins have cost me under $100 with the most coming in under $30. For my collections, I've found that coins of the the Imperatorial issues through the first century have been my most expensive. JW
