I wish I could see it person! The artwork is so fluid that I half expect it to move.

You take great pictures.

Enjoy!

Those coins are made in high relief correct?

I honestly can't say. It doesn't feel high relief to me, but I'm not an expert.

"The artwork is so fluid that I half expect it to move."

That is due to the twisting under water vegetation and the water bubbles I figure. Very clever design by that artist there, and a great unique animal for the center piece. One of those coins that will be always sought after by those that see the value in platinum anyway (as do I, and most here) for a long time to come....

I was gonna pull the trigger on that coin, at about the same price, too but then decided to get the US Mint 1oz Proof, the 6 years Liberty series w/ limited mintage of 15K, I think, but the premium is higher @ $1790.

Nice coin. I am wondering what's the mintage.

It honestly didn't occur to me to even inquire. As I said, I was buying this as purely bullion and wasn't thinking of it in numismatic terms. The premium I paid over spot was in line with other platinum products (whether "coins" or bars), and I didn't realize it mattered what the mintage was. Are you saying these could someday be collectible and have a value above the bullion value? If so, sweet!

I just checked and APMEX said your coins has 30K mintage and sold out at Australia Perth Mint.
Here's the other coin that I've mentioned: https://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/w...ory_rn=10114

The $200 premium is not cheap but there's only 15K made & it's part of a 6yrs series. Only time can tell.

Ah... But I didn't pay a $200 premium! Goldmart only charged a $75 premium...

Oh, wait -- you're talking about the other coin, not the platypus. Never mind...

Platinum is a "noble metal", so, no, it does not tarnish.

Very nice coin barryg. I don't have any interest in platinum, but I have been eying that coin since it was released. I blame it my kids watching too much Phineas & Ferb. (OK, I admit, I am hooked on the show as well.)

Heh. I keep trying to convince my 6-year-old son that the coin is made from .9999 pure platypus. So far, though, he's not buying it...

Yes, it is one very nice looking semi-aquatic egg laying mammal of action...
