As someone who has been editing/publishing a coin club monthly magazine since 1998, I can attest to this fact: if you want to find out just how good you are at writing articles, try staring at half a dozen blank magazine pages that still need filling while facing a publishing deadline that's only a few days away. Articles which I've written during such stressed-out mad-rush panic-button conditions have been... interesting, to say the least, but I've discovered that they're also the articles that the club members most often give me positive feedback about.

Is this email stuff allowed here? Can't recall
Not really, unless you want a lot of spam, the spammers harvest them from forums all the time. I edited your post to make it less obvious not a non-sentient program.

I'm a former newspaper reporter, magazine staff writer and full-time freelancer since 1999. It has always been a highly competitive field and a tough way to grind out a living. That's doubly true today with the poor economy and the internet.

You could always start a blog or do an e-magazine, but consider it more of a hobby or pastime from a financial standpoint. If you want to make money on the venture, that's a totally different subject.

Newsletters can be fun, but they can also be a drag. I'm here right now when I should be finishing up our local club newsletter. Been doing it for eight years now and writing articles for it for sixteen years.

Lots of writers here -- go figure.

Right now I am here engaging in avoidance behavior. I am participating in the National Novel Writing Month program (again) and I have until the end of the month to finish. So far I have 2 pages. LOL

So I will get right back to work -- AFTER I go check out yankee's blog.

I like Buddy's suggestion about the 10 pieces and standing back to see the direction in which it's going. I also like the blog idea, but quite seriously I don't go around searching for blogs. Internet is possibly the best way to tackle issues to do with photographs. If there's one thing I hate about printed material it's the pictures, because they are not very true to the object being shown. It gets pixelated, and there are color issues for the ink, glare from the ink, and by the time it ends up on paper the image is changed so much. I would rather have a direct link to an image (even though it uses pixels, but what doesn't-). Internet allows it to be more interactive - people can have follow-up questions by e-mail and can do their own research to back up your claims.

I checked your site earlier but had to get back to my work right after that.

I wanted to let you know that I thought it looked good, it read well, and it is a great start.

I have signed up to follow that page...my name appears as VonElleKV there.

Good luck.
