Thanks..a 1874 3Vs in CANADA VG sells for $230, makes you wonder what an EF would sell for ;)... How many people here have one? I have 2, and have seen 2 go on ebay in the last 3 months... Edited by canadian-varieties

Sitting here earlier this evening watching this coin on ebay,ready to bid $42 in the last few seconds when I had an epiphany of sorts.Would I buy a used car with a known manufacturer's defect? To be able to recognize,and estimate the rarity of something like this is one thing,but to want to own one,or more than one in my case is foolish.My money and time could be better could be better spent in this hobby.I`ll soon be selling off all my barV`s,and faint V`s and using the money and time saved to buy more significant coins. |

People collect coins for their history, rarity and unique features... I bought the coin you describe...a great value IMO... Die varieties such as the 1874 inverted Vs, or 1872 and 1880 A/Vs...reflect a history of the minting process used during that era... When I ask myself...do I want a regular 1872 25c in AU, or a 100x rarer 1872 25c N/N or A/V in AU that better reflects the history of the coin minting process? Especially when I can get them for almost the same price...well..I'll take the rarer and more historical piece :)...but to each his own... I hope you sell me all your bar Vs and faint Vs...and use the proceeds to buy coins more significant to YOU...for me..these die varieties are very significant... When I publish my atlas...it'll be up to collectors to decide, whether to collect them or not, or what value to assign to them...    Edited by canadian-varieties

Grading is off a bit , at best a G4, but sure looks like 3 V's. |

Another one ended tonight. Were you the buyer danlos,if so congrats That's at least four that have sold in the last two months What are the odds that something so rare pops up on ebay with such frequency? It'll take about another 5 years of cherrypicking before they stop showing up frequently,that's about how long you have to corner the market |

Hmm..someone is watching me :)...this was #5 for me...I've been able to pick up the last two 1874 3Vs under $30 each  which is funny because I lost the previous two 1874 3Vs at around $200 bid mark....  Edited by canadian-varieties
