Wow plastic money, I think that is way cool and the obvious way of the future, and I expect the USA and others to eventually follow suit, if it turns out to be practical....
That seller there needs to add some info on what it is, and what it is made of, but I suppose they figure if someone is looking at it, they know what it is....
And 100 dollar face, and he wants 129 lol. Can't one go to the bank an exchange paper currency for one of those bad boys?

apparently the pool of buyers are non-Canadians that have a hard time getting these new notes period, since they only came out in November. Really odd... from a collectors/numismatic point of view people should be buying the old paper notes that will be out of circulation relatively soon instead.
The new notes are made out of a plastic polymer that is suppose to be next to impossible to forge (for now), last 70x as long, cannot be ripped, and will not shrink when tossed into the dryer (but reports are that they do "deflate" slightly).

Makes sense, people in Canada can easily get them, but I down here can't so most will pay an extra 30 bucks to get something like that in their collection, if they so desired. Makes sense to me and you would clear about a twenty spot after shipping an fees each sale if their is indeed a good market, just needs more info....

youd actually get more, you guys forget hes charging 130 USD and you are getting 100 CAD which is worth 98 USD.
So another way to look at this "incredible deal" is you pay him 130 USD he holds on to it for 6-8 weeks, then he sends you $98.20 in return LOL.

Quote:I'm a bit embarrassed by my own ebay listings actually, as I know the majority are way over priced. Better to be overpriced and come down than to be underpriced and be stuck with the price. Quote: (but reports are that they do "deflate" slightly). Deflate as in shrink when you pinprick them to let the air out? And they do deflate a bit since I think the CD is less than one USD.

It was an intended pun :) i just love the idea that the bills can shrink. The bill of the future for me would change in size according to value.

Hawk- Over the years, I have often been asked two questions: - What should I collect?
- What should I invest in?
The answers are similar, and always the same: Collect what you enjoy. If it never becomes worth anything, you already got your money's worth, just like money you spent on any other entertainment. If it becomes valuable, the increase is pure profit. Invest in what you understand. If you made the money in a business, expand the business. Why would you not put your profits where you know money can be made, in favor of putting them in someone else's control? When Mug Whataman sold over a billion dollars in ebay stock, it was clear that the stock would tank. In effect, she was saying she felt that no matter what she did running the company, it was not going to be as profitable as investing elsewhere. That's a pretty big red flag.

I think I do this more as a hobby then an investment. I save one roll of SAE for each of my children every year on their birthday, so hopefully by college they will have several hundred ounces each. All pre 1933 gold will never be sold while I'm on watch, there is just something that I love about old gold. As for the other 900+ oz that is always for sale for the right price. The problem I have ran into now is that since my father past away last month leaving me his collection and I don't know what to do with it. I can't sell any of it because the thought breaks me apart :(

Yes Fredd, my collection/investing lines cross to often, and it is all good, as I still have a nice stock of vintage collectible to sell, and of course switchin back to silver. That does not mean I don't love gold, and wont ever get more, as for example if I can get a bunch of silver together, and I think it is about to peak out again, I very well may get the notion to sell again around the peak, and who knows which way I will go then. Maybe back to gold again, or just wait till silver looses 35% of its overall value, and buy right back in again....
I do wish I could have kept all money made from any sells put back into the bus, but is not realistic, as I go from making about 5 to 6 hundred a week workin part time in 8 months, to 200 a week if I am lucky in the winter, and life/bills take some, but I do put as much as possible back into Pm or other stock....

TBK I do hate to hear of your father passing as I can tell you guys were good friends and enjoyed collecting the silver an gold together....
I bet your dad would want you to not get emotionally attached to it all, perhaps keep real special pre 33 gold as you love so as we all do, how cool is it, but I bet he would want you to move it at the right times as you guys had planned, continuing to add to you and your family and next generations position....
Why does ever sport team member go out and play even after a close teammate has fallen, as life and the games goes on, and we still play to honor those who have moved on to better places....

Quote: In fact, kinda curious what everybody thinks about the trade (a sinking feeling that the lot of us here are pro silver over gold at the moment though). The trade was from close to .95oz of gold for 50.15oz of silver... Given today's metal prices, that seems like a pretty even trade to me. I am a little biased towards silver, like some others here, but PM is PM and I would not at all mind having some gold in the hoard.

I think it is a good deal for both, as it certainly was not Pobox's last 50 oz. of silver, and from what I can see in his store, he has a good ratio of both. Wow, that 100 oz. silver bar of yours, I wish I had close to 4 grand to toss you a fair offer on that beauty, and I think your prices are fine for the rare high quality premiums you sell, and you do have best offers on those great items. I always say if something is real special to me, I can ask what I want to ask, my and all's God given right. I am negotiable on most items for sale, but there is always a couple special items I am not so willing to part with short of what I have it listed as.... I sent him by the way a nice 2010 half oz. proof gold eagle, and three UK Half sovereign proofs, and a 2008 Perth Mint year of the mouse 1/20th and a Isle of cat coin 1/25th, for the great Majestic silver kilo bar and that amazing 18 oz. Aztec silver set, as I am real partial to Aztec history.... And seeing how that most cool/under the radar silver company First(I like the design of the F clever) Majestic is based out of Canada of course, as it has three silver mines in none other than Mexico. So too cool that they base their silver art around the all to cool history of the Aztec and Mexico. Pobox posted the pictures of both a week or so back in this section, great silver IMO....

A very representative set that one was. Canadian Mining company, Mexican silver and design, American Mint. It's the quintessential North American Set :) This one here is my favorite though https://goccf.com/t/104772
