Hi guys, ok here's a bigger picture. I'm focusing on the 1903 silver peso. I hope it's big enough to be graded and estimated it's market price:)

Hi as well to Josie:)
well honestly I only have number of superb quality speicmens of this coin type. most of my coolection are circulated but still in fine to extra fine condition:)

There's a sad story about these coins going around here in the philippines, I just found out that there are some merchants buying these from coomon people just to get them melted and turned into silver jewelries!
it's a big waste really, some people dont know the historic and numismatic value of these coins. I even found out one time somebody melted 6 pieces 1906 silver pesos! I mean those are so rare having a scarce date! tsk tsk...really it's horrible.

the 1907 grades VF-35 just slightly more wear present on the coin than the 1903.

They value like this

1903-S around 15 to 20.00

1907-S around 6 to 7.00

These coins generally sell for a bit over what Krause values them at ,, for the better grades AU -BU pieces, in these grades they sell very close to or slightly under Krause listed value.

I don't know if it's just the pics, but the 1903 almost looks to me like it could be a proof strike. There were proofs produced for this year. What is your feeling on this Metalman?

I think they are doing that in the past their is a vendor who buy coins most in public place around the country, and buyer go from street to street and shouting buying old coins I encountered one in late 70's talking to my mother and they still do it today thats my inlaw told me last year.

Its possible I suppose, but the coin has circulated,, I was thinking that it may have been cleaned. but I would need much better pics to tell for sure.

I would have to research to find out where the proofs were struck,, I was working under the assumption that all proof coinage was being struck at the Philly mint. I suppose its possible that San Francisco may have struck some ?

Is that one peso coin the size of a Peace or Morgan dollar?

By looking at the RedBook,, the 1903-S is a circulation strike coin.

well I tried contacting some of these merchants however their prices are way overboard. Cant blame them for that since they had a hard time looking for these coins
although some are fair enough to sell them at a reasonable price.
Majority of the coins in Olongapo are philippine-american coinage while I believe in Ilocos has a vast collection philippine-Spanish coins

the time I acquired this coin I thought at first it was a proof stike because its finely detailed. I made a comparison with other silver pesos but this one stands out.

Although I never held a Peace dollar before rather seen one, I think this silver peso is a little bit wider than the Peace dollar but never as big as a morgan:)
