I'm glad I'm not like ND.

I am with Old Dan on this one! And, ND, I think that revolution thing was recommended about every 20 years or so? Guess WE are way past due!

Maybe stirring the pot has a bad connotation to it. If you called it 'getting you to think', you would be a little closer to the truth. I always enjoy the discussions that are brought forth here and there have been several times that I had my opinion swayed by the facts/opinions that others have had. So keep stirring.

I love stirring the pot! I like to gauge people's beliefs and monitor how passionate they are on certain subjects. For me, I am passionate... ...about NOT having presidents on our dollar coins. I believe some design of liberty should grace our coinage just as President Theodore Roosevelt envisioned when he mandated the US Mint to get their act together. Those early 20th century designs are still some of the most revered and collected coins today! ...about looking, buying and collecting coins that are the real deal. It is one of the reasons why I support the works of PCGS, NGC, ICG and ANACS. Even when I can see and touch the coin, I just don't trust my color judgement (Lincolns) and my grading skills from AU50 to MS65. ...about enjoying the history and art of coins. It is a moment in time. When I hold a Morgan CC circulated dollar, I envision it used in a poker game out West with the sounds of boots and spurs rustling on a saloon floor. ...about warning collectors about the SGS grading services of the world and the promises of MS70 from sellers that own and operate their own "bogus" grading company at the expense of newbies. Well, I also believe in the soul. The small of a woman's back. The hanging curveball. High fiber. Good scotch. That the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitution Amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas eve. And I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.Sorry, I just watched the movie (again) the other night and it was fresh on my mind. Back to the subject...as much as I have feelings for some of my posts, I like a good discussion from opposing viewpoints. But then again, before you raise your voice, reinforce the argument. That goes for you young collectors that know all of the answers. I was a teenager too before I grew up and entered the "real" world. It's more fun when fuel is added to a fire!

I like a good "pot-stirring" myself. It's just no fun when everybody agrees with you all of the time. Fortunately, I seldom have that problem!

The nice thing about our coin community (thanks again, sponsors ) is that we can stir the pot here- without fear of stepping on toes or being shouted down or insulted. On CU, there is a poster who when he is writing about coins, I can learn from. When he posts about politics/economics, he has a narrow, nearly paranoid conservative (in the bad sense- as in afraid of change, seeing the negative side of some very complex, nuanced viewpoints without a thought of the concept of constructive criticism or principled disagreement- he is almost that blindly simplistic in his views) world view-and he resorted to name calling! When my three year old calls me a stupid belly "bunton", I know that he is just seeking attention. When someone whom I can respect when they stick to coins starts calling me names in a forum (I mean literally), I lose some of that respect.

As many here know, I have a great passion for coins. I have built a good business and made many good friends. I do not claim to be perfect or always right, but I do try to be the best "insider" that I can be. In my attempts to stir the pot, it is only to get some others to look at the hobby through the eyes of a dealer. I can't please everyone, and never try, but I will always do my best to be honest and treat you with the respect that many of you show me on a daily basis.

The beauty of this forum, vs many others is the respect that we give each other. The name is truly appropriate. We are like a good community! Bless all of you for being here. It means the world to me, and it sure feels like home (Kansas if you will!!) And I didn't even have to click my "heels" together.(Thank God because I would have fallen over!) Mike

No nicknames for me. I had over a thousand posts before I realized that I was a pillar in the community. Rarely do I look to that side of the post to see what is said.
