The coin looks fine to me. The only concern that I might have is that from your pictures there seems to be some brown color between the letters. This could just be tonning or maybe base metal showning. The details are very fine.

Thanks for the info! And I have spent quite a bit of time reading the information on tesorillo and have found it to contain very useful information. These images are the sellers images. The seller offers a life time guarantee of authenticity so I am not too worried about if this turns out to be a fake. I just need to know what to look for.

Ummm, I'm a bit of a sucker for fake stuff ... Example => Pamela Anderson => all real, until proven otherwise!! => so my opinion => very pretty coin!!

I guess I'll be contrary (that's what my mother would always say about me). I don't like the looks of this coin and I can't put my finger on why. Personally, I would not buy this coin because of these misgivings. Apparently you have misgivings as well or you wouldn't have asked.
Regards,

With a coin that has the potential value that this one should have, I ALWAYS like to have the coin in hand for close inspection, before making a decision to buy.
If that can't happen, the only other alternative is to buy off a dealer who has many years of experience in ancient numismatics. The price will be higher, because you are paying for that experience.
VCOINS lists similar denarii in similar condition at around $750.

The coin arrived today and the weird coloration in the sellers images were an artifact likely from the scanner. The coin has a nice dull silver color. I believe the red spots on the reverse are cuprite?
