Doucet, I am very familiar with your coin as it was once part of my collection. I could find no trace of tooling when I examined the coin. I does suffer from some minor porosity and the silver has crystallised somewhat but is still very nice and I was very reluctant to part with it.
Abdera, Ar triobol, 352 - 323 B.C. Obv:-- Griffin seated left, club beneath, HPA above (Magistrate). Rev:-- ABD-HRI-TE-WN, Laureate head of Apollo right in square. Minted in Abdera, VIIIth period. 352 - 323 B.C. (AMNG) Reference:-- May -. AMNG II, 204, pl. III, #15 1.57g, 15.29mm, 0o
This is the information that I had with the coin in my database. Regards, Martin

Thanks maridvnvm
I think I was making my assumption from the photo I had taken some time ago. I had not looked at the coin itself for quite awhile. After examining the coin in good light today with a loupe I believe you are correct and this puts any doubts in my mind to rest.
The area I thought looked odd was in the wings of the Griffin, but on further examination this area has shiny silver specs that the porosity has not dulled and causes the area to appear darker than the other areas of the coin in some light . If you turn the coin at a different angle the silver specs reflect light, and are bright and shiny.
My photo (which is not very flattering) reflects the darker light. I should have examined it closer before I mentioned anything. This brings to mind the ambiguous nature of a photograph and shows the difficulty of making a determination from a photo alone.
I will take another photo and capture the true nature of the coin and not use the old photo again.
Also, thank you for the attribution info. The coin will stay in my care indefinitely and I will keep that information with it.
Best Regards
