Should I be concerned with the green deposits on the obverse? I am hoping that its not bronze disease.

The green spots are just harmless buildup. Nothing to worry about.

Gently prod at the green deposits with a toothpick or a pin (very gently so you don't scratch metal nearby!). If the green flakes into a powdery mess, it could be bronze disease. If it stays solid and hard, it is safe. Don't try to pick it off as part of this test. Disease is soft and moves easily.

The coin arrived today and it looks much better in hand. I gently probed the green areas and it came off quite easily to reveal a surface analogous to the rest of the coin. The lighter encrustations are much harder and would require someone more skilled than I to remove.   Edited by w00zi

I used a rather unorthodox method to remove the encrustations. I used a straightened staple. Surprisingly I found that it did not scratch the bronze. I believe staples are made of an aluminum alloy which must have a hardness value similar to or lower than bronze.
