Congrats on your first commem purchase. So what is going to be your next one?
The best is to shop around and compare prices. And if you want to save some money on the modern commems, buy them unslabbed.

Thanks wquinn, I am usually not a big fan of buying slabbed coins either unless they are key dates or potentially counterfeited. I probably won't buy anymore slabbed modern commems unless they 70s but you never know. Thanks for all the advice and I am certainly still learning.

Merc, as far as slabbed or unslabbed its whatever you prefer. I would say though that you have it right for moderns. Its only worth buying it slabbed if you want 70s, and if you do want 70s just buy them already slabbed dont try and build a set of them by sending them in

Thanks basebal21, I think that will be my approach from here on forward. I get a little impulsive at times and while it isn't a BIG purchase I am glad that I didn't overpay by too much. It will look cool in my collection so I will just leave it at that!

Merc I do the same thing on ebay all the time. Its hard to say what the right price is on there as theyre listed all over the place usually. As long as its in the ballpark of the list you did good.

My personal knowledge of the modern set is limited ... but I encourage you to follow your collecting interests and acquire as any of these great coins as you see fit. Looking forward to seeing whatever you have for us. David

I am working on a set of Ike's right now so I am probably going to get those 2 commems (proof and unc) next. After that I was planning on working on a set of Franklins so this will certainly go with those.

It's funny, that was my first commemorative purchase. I picked it up about two years ago, NGC MS68. I bought it mainly because I really liked the reverse.
