I've been hooked on coins from Belarus since I discovered them a year or two ago. My first "wow" moment was the The Bogs of Almany State Park (the owl) 20 roubles silver proof. Their minting process seems to be of very high quality.

I only have a 1997 rouble for the 1998 Winter Olympics; it's my "One From Every Country" representative coin from Belarus. Technically, I didn't "need" a Belarussian coin since they've never made circulation coins, but last year I went and bought one anyway from a dealer at the local coin show.

The sport depicted is the biathlon; Belarus won a bronze medal in this sport (Alexei Aidarov, men's 20km individual) at the '98 Games; one of only two medals they won there.

I have a few coins from Belarus and all are very eye appealling works of art! My favorite would be the mute swans which were minted, if I remember correctly, in 2002 or 2003? I have both the cupro nickel and the silver versions! Little tough to locate in the U.S. but friends in Europe and a little luck on ebay has brought me a few coins.

The mute swan is one of the nicest-looking coins I own. It's very hard to find now. I'm so happy I got a proof one for myself 2-3 years ago.
