Can you say where the friction is on the reverse? I have trouble with high AU in pictures. Thanks!

Look on the "V" and the field around it. On the obverse check the hair about ear and the highest points of the bun.

I will hold with the AU-58 call. Maybe it looks different in hand but what I am seeing in the photos is a very lightly circulated coin with tone.
What grade did the seller have on this one?

Maybe I am dazzled by the coin...I still am not sure on the wear. I am also curious as to what the seller had it at, I still feel it is in the MS range.

The seller didn't assign a grade to the coin, but the price was in the AU range. I ended up with $300 on the table...

I will guess this coin grades AU-53. The places where I see some wear include the hair under the B in Liberty, face, wreath, and in the fields. If you look at those areas on the obverse from the second set of pictures, you may notice those areas are a tad dull when compared to the luster you see near the stars on the right side of the coin. That with the slight flatness in that area in the hair, appear to be signs of circulation. Nice pickup BTW!

Beautiful coin! I especially like that the left ear of corn (on the reverse) actually has some 'kernel' details. That is a notorious area for weakness of strike. I love to see detail in that spot!

I think it would get held back from anything higher than AU53 due to the surface digs on the reverse. Above the V and the left dot.

Great coin - but that might be a $100 nick.
