I would leave the negative Hawk. I know youd hate to do it, but future buyers should be warned when buying big $$$ items from him.
ErrorCoins, Id leave a negative if its been more than a month. Thats plenty of time to respond to emails.

Well, I got a new issue and need some HELP and ADVICE fast how to fix this mess....
I have messed up big time and sent the 10 oz. constitution bar to a guy who won a 1 oz. silver-towne and old pour 4 oz. G & G bar (5 oz. total oops), and of course the guy who won the 10 oz. bar got the 5 oz. of silver....
He emailed me about it, opened case, then left nasty negative before I could even respond an telling him I am working it out....
I emailed guy who got the extra 5 free oz. and asked if he would do the right thing and help me out, but I am not holding my breath....
Crazy that something so foolish could happen, I just had several things to ship, and they both had similar foreign names, and somehow the labels must have got mixed up....
This is gonna cost me big time, and I don't even know where to start to fix this mess....

Leaving negs. aren't as bad of a deal as they used to be, now that they drop off after six months, or is it a year? Can't remember which. But it's no longer a lifetime black mark like it once was, pre-2008.

I would offer the guy that got the 5oz instead of the 10oz half his money back or get him to return it for a full refund. I would then ask the guy that got the 10oz bar to return it to you ( at your expense ) and give him a full refund as well. Hopefully the buyer that got the 10oz bar has a conscience and does the right thing

I agree completely with trout's recommendations, with the additional possibility of then completing the transactions correctly, if the buyers so desire.
As far as your purchase and leaving negative feedback...so now everybody on the planet is potentially exposed to the same situation as you endured and you had the opportunity to provide a warning, but didn't. Thanks. I don't see how that is in any way the "high road" in the grand scheme of things. You would NOT have been ruining anybody's business; the seller did that himself.
I do hope your current selling situation is resolved with no loss other than some shipping expense. Good luck.

If you don't want to leave neg. feedback, then leave neutral feedback. I believe you should leave something.

The buyer agreed to take a 200 dollar refund and keep the 5 oz. I sent, as I called them via phone, lol. How shocked they were for me to actually call, esp after leaving me a negative.....
I was nice about it, but did say you did not have to go an leave a neg an try an ruin me before I could address the situation, lol....
She just new I was a crook early on, but I said...."Mam, if I was a crook do you think I would be calling you via phone in person trying to offer you a partial or free refund of your choice, or still try an get you the correct bar?"
And she said...."Well I guess not."
Anyhow to make a long story short they agreed to accept a 200 dollar refund so that is that....
Now then, can I open case on the other guy if he does not respond to my request to get the wrong bar back, as I have of course not gotten a response as of yet?

Feedback can be changed by buyers now, you should ask her to.

She said she would Bobby as soon as I refunded her, which I told her would tom or Tues as soon as some funds in transit hits my bank account from pay-pal....
Plus I got 150 cash on me and bar-tending tonight on father's day so I can put it in my bank account tom and fix this mess asap....
I told her I was real embarrassed and wish I could get in a time machine and go back an fix it and send the right one as she wanted that bar for her father for father's day, I totally understand her disappointment and would have been just as upset....
I would never leave a neg until the last means as I just did my first on the other guy, and seeing as how he got back to back, no doubt a crook and had it coming, so I KNOW I made right choice thanks all for insight....

Hawk, It happens ALL the time, sellers switch the labels accidentally during the packaging process, any number of distractions can happen, the telephone/doorbell rings, your kid/dog wants attention, the house catches on fire, etc. Your shortchanged buyer jumped the gun, but you DID the right thing by resolving the situation ASAP. As for the buyer with the 10 oz bar, you might have to eat that as a lesson learned loss; expect that he might just take off with your bar and never communicate with you again. If that's the outcome, your only recourse is to neg him for non-response (provided you haven't left buyer fb yet) and simply blacklist him from buying from you again. Dude, I feel your pain, that is a tough mistake to make. Hope this side of the equation works out for you.

Quote:Someone correct me if I'm wrong about all this, but I thought ebay held off paying the seller for a specific period of time or until the buyer leaves feedback. They do do that for a lot of sellers. If you sell on there a lot and get positive feedback a lot proving you are trustworthy I guess they give you the money right away. Although I do think now if you provide tracking info youre money gets freed when that says it arrived. I cant stress using tracking info enough if you ever sell anything. I sold something one time and it ended up back in my mail box. The person tried to claim I never shipped it but the tracking info showed they left 3 notices for them to pick it up at the post office. This buyer didnt feel it was their responsibility to go to the post office to pick up their own mail and never got it so it was returned. They wanted a full refund, I gave them the refund for the item but not the shipping and because of the tracking info ebay agreed with my decision.
