I think that's from the so-called Bloody Eagle series (note the line under the eagle's beak).
If so, surprising that they actually used a non-fantasy date - didn't expect a real combination from them

The clash on the reverse looks like the result of about a 45 degree die rotation. It would be a new discovery if authentic.

Two things wrong:
1.) Complete lack of mint lustre, even in then lettering, despite little or no wear.
2.) Despite little or no wear, the details seem to be quite soft, indicating that this coin is a copy.

Die struck coins can be a bit harder to pick, but can still have soft details, because they have to be copied from an original source.

Probably pressure cast. Have a look closely at the edge. Also, that spot in the wing may have been the injection point to avoid obvious edge evidence of casting. Is it possible to get a micrograph of that?

The CC looks okay, slightly larger than the real deal. That date is cartoon-ish though. I agree, fake unfortunately. They did a pretty good job on it, but for the amount of detail in some places with the utter lack of deal in other places, it is noticeable.

You guys are really good I thought someone might think it was real.

The circumference and thickness are correct.

It's non-magnetic.

The two main problems are the grainy surface and the weight is off by 20%, at 21.3 gr.

It is much easier to see the defects, in the date, in the photo than in hand.

Thanks for looking

Here's another - got this one direct from China. Magnetic, and the fake weighs in at a low 17.84 g and I didn't bother with other measurements.

january1may good call. I checked Steve's Black Cabnet and the reverse on the 85 sure looks like those he listed as Bloody Eagle.

Mabe they are branching out and going for the big money.

Can pick this one in the same way: no wear but the high points in particular where there is no wear, lack detail. Breast feathers best show this.

Nicely done, Larry. This is the kind of educational stuff we like to see around here. Thank you.

I instantly had a bad feeling about this just because of the overall appearance. Other than what's been mentioned the rim looks absolutely terrible.

Some of those Chinese fakes are not supposed to look perfect. Some of them were deliberately produced as copies, and were originally sold by the manufacturer as such.

Same thing with copies of ancient coins sold to tourists, where you can quite easily go to jail for selling genuine heritage artifacts out of the Country of origin. In this case, it is better to make an object look like a coin, but on close examination easily proves to be a copy only.
