Local vest pocket dealer set up in the local mall with the baseball card collectors. I usually have something going on Saturday, but this was an exception. So, while the wife slept in, I had breakfast, a spot of coffee, went to a garage sale, and then attended the "Card and Coin" show. I bought a couple of nice XF/AU Lincolns, an high AU 1932 P Washington quarter, and looked through his book of Buffs and Mercs.
Low and behold, he has an nice UNC 1913 T1 Buffalo. Problem is, has damage on LIBERTY - something circular mushed most of the lettering off. But, I decided to look at the coin with a loupe anyway. Low and behold....an obverse DOUBLE DIE. Indians face is doubled and the bottom of LIBERTY lettering is doubled as well.
Anybody else seen one? Too bad this coin has a major problem.....otherwise, it would be a 65/66 graded coin.
Without a decent photo it is difficult to see just how bad the so called damage is. My self, I'd have tried to haggle him down due to the damage. Don't forget it may well not be damage but a Mint error due to the doubling. For that amount I think I'd take the chance.
