I would report him to ebay, leave him a negative feedback (also look to see if he has a history of retaliation feedback, if so most likely he'll leave a neg for you though, you can jump the gun on him and stat that any neg. feedback left was in retaliation.)

Unless you're new to ebay and a retaliatory negative may hurt you in future purchases, I'd leave the negative feedback. Potential buyers may not even notice that they've been had if they don't look at the postage.

The seller already left pos feedback when payment was received. Can they change the feedback they have left?

That's the question of the day in my opinion. I know you can change negative feedback, as I have seen it withdrawn before, but I don't know if it is limited to negative, or if you can withdraw all types. If it can't be withdrawn, sock it to them!!!!

No, He can't change the positive feedback he left for you; so, Zap him with negative feedback and make it hurt!

He can "reply" to it. BUT, if you say up front "shipping ripoff," he's screwed. ANd, I think you get one reply to his reply.

It's good that he left feedback already and you dont have to worry about him leaving you a negative in return.

BUT, what if he hasn't left you feedback. Do you guys really think $4 is worth having a negative on your record? I mean, sure you want to let everyone else know about this high shipping rip off. But if it were me, I would leave a positive, state the shipping was a rip off, and just go on my marrie way and not buy from the guy again. Just my 2 cents.

How about this strategy if he hadn't left any feedback. You are allowed something like 30 days to leave feedback. Wait until the last possible minute, (literally less then one hour), and zing him with the negative. Odds are he won't notice immediately and won't have time to hit you with the retaliation negative.

And to the original poster- yes this guy deserves a negative.

when I look at the auctions ,,I check the feedback score if it is 100% I seldom read what was left by other buyers,, but If I see several negatives I generally read them to see why they were left, and by who .

If the negative was warranted and had to do with mis representation the seller can pack sand, I will not bid on his Items no matter how bad I may want what is offered.

If positives are left when the seller deserves a negative the feedback system does not work and becomes even more unreliable,,

This is why you file the dispute it gives ebay record of the problem and puts the remedy in the hands of the seller,, no feedback should be left until the dispute runs its course.

and then my neg would read something like (Seller failed to work within ebay dispute resolution guidelines)or on the positive side (Seller worked within dispute resolution guidelines)

No matter how a dispute ends the other buyers need to know that it went to dispute resolution through ebay.

The seller had their chance to make it right outside of those guidelines ,,its not up to the buyers to beg the sellers to do the right thing !!

I always check a sellers feedback before I buy anything on ebay from someone with less than 100%. Up until the original transaction, there was no indication or any remarks left from previous buyers that would have made me suspicious of this seller. Since my purchase there has been nothing but positive feedback left for this seller making me think that this may have indeed been an oversight on their part. If this seller was practicing mail fraud, I think someone else would have called them on it by now.

I still feel the seller should have offered a refund instead of a discount off my next purchase from them. The dollar amount wasn't important, it was just the principal. For this reason I feel a neutral feedback stating this would be more appropriate in this instance.

The over charged shipping is the one thing that really, really sets me off.

I paid a guy $6-7 for ship/ins and got a .63 envelope. SO I only neutraled him with "good product, shipping over charge," and he negged me. I was furious in my response but still had the neg on me. Gave me stuff like "costs, salaries, accountants, etc." Yeh, right.

Usually, I do not leave FB first any more if it is a messed up deal. If I do it's so non-commital like "okay."

There is another lesson in this discussion...

I am not a big ebay buyer or seller (score 142 100% all pos=169)
Not all buying or selling has been coin related.

As a seller, I do not leave feedback until the transaction is complete...
and that means the buyer has let me know by feedback that they are satisfied.

As a buyer, I do not leave feedback until I am satisfied.

I have been mislead twice by sellers...
1st - unknowledgable seller & buyer.
2nd - misrepresented item.

Both times, they left feedback as soon as I paid for items, but before they shipped.

Neither seller corrected the problem ( ebay is no help & sellers did not accept PayPal), so I gave them negs and explained why.

I was lucky to escaped receiving negs.
