I'm going in six directions at once, and you're asking my opinion?

Bet you can't guess what my vote was.

Go for the Franklins. This is a short and can be an inexpensive set, depending on what grade you are looking for.

Franklins are the way to go. I have really enjoyed collecting them so far, and I only have a few to go. A perk is that there is no key date coin - there are a few semi-keys but no $1000 coins. Good Luck!

I was told a few months ago, by a national dealer and friend, to go after Franklin half dollars in high grade or proof as they were going to rise and rise quickly. So much so they will be considered the next Morgan dollar? Have purchased a few since then but already have a complete set so no hurry on my part.
I also would recommend world silver, world bullion and world classics if you can buy them right. History is a great thing and many countries put out designs that are more than stunning. Enjoy what you do and always remember you don't have to please anyone except yourself!

I am already doing thge silver dollar. But I forgot to metion in above. Currently I am collecting these yealy. started these all last year and will contuine every year. but didn't talk about them in my first mesagge. I am working on
Australian- Kangaroos(have 2006,2007)
Australian- Lunar coin so far I have Dog and Pig(have 2006-2007)
Australian- Kookaburras (1990,2006)
now Australian- Koala
British Britannias (1999,2006)
Canadian Maple leaf(2006,2007)
Chinese Panda (2006)
Isle of Man Proof Silver Cats (2006)
Mexican Libertads (2006)
New Zealand Kiwi Dollar (2005,2006)
US Silver Eagle (have all of through 2007)
So those are the ones I am currently collecting still need most for this year but I am alway working on those as well.
But I was leaning toward either Franklin half or Australian Florins
thank you so far.
I guess I just have alot I want.lol

I voted for Franklins, I'm currently working on a set and really enjoys it. Like already mentioned, they're not very expensive either.

Hi DJ! I voted for Franklin's because they are still relatively inexpensive to collect, can be completed even with the proofs (the early dates can be a bit pricey) and I feel they have great potential to grow in value. Good luck! Mike

I voted for Type set, but Barber dimes are a close second.

Repeat after me: "I must buy the Australian Florins, I must buy the Australian Florins".
Keep repeating this until you are convinced. Say this until even in your sleep you want to buy them!

I vote best response is from the guy that says "I'm going in six different directions at once..."

How about going for ancients? Find the right dealers and collect Roman emperors, or maybe Greek/Celtic coins. You can get decent coins for $50-100 each. I like the history of them but since I'm going in six different directions at once as well...I'm not a good source.

Are you a collector? Or an investor? Then it's all finding a new passion or a new "best" investment.

I am a collector, I buy coin for the pure enjoyment of them, but I will conterdict myself. there are some current stuff I buy for resale down the road. but the ones I asked about would be to collect. but alway keeping in my mind that one day someone other them me will have to sell them. that is why when I start a set I like ot try to get it finshed before starting two many differnt areas.

I am leaning toward doing Franklin half dollar, but close behind that is both barbers and florins. so still hard to say. I just guess I have alot of thing going to maybe I will just keep with the few thing I already have in the fire.
my type set, world coins, and my silver world bullion dollars. Plus I would also like to at some point get all US proof set from 1957-2007 have all current ones and some early jsut missing the middel cheep ones.
My problem is I only have about 40-60 dollars a month to spend on coin. with a wife 3 kids a Dog, plus a house payment makes it hard to spend much more then that to spend on coins. so it makes it hard to get everything I want.
But I am going on a road trip to Las vegas coin show this weekend a have a few hundred to spend on coins. so I was trying to find something else fun to collect.
thank you guys all for your opions. keep them comming. I might just have to do all of them.
I really didn't think I would get that many votes for the dimes. I kind of thought the half would be a propular one.
