Ammara: I would contact a few REPUTABLE dealers (on ebay and elsewhere). Explain that you are a collector of US coinage who lives abroad, and ask if they will ship to your country (you may have to pay the difference). There are absolutely sellers who will go the extra mile. But before you do that . . . . . . contact your country's consulate and postal service. Here's why: shipping regulations may make it difficult, if not impossible, for you to purchase silver or coin from another country and get it through the mail (I don't know if this is specifically true for your country--I know it is true for some). Years ago, my mother ran an ebay business that was essentially a junk shop. She sent a lovely first-edition US hardback Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire* to China, where a teacher had purchased it to help her students practice their English. The book--and the replacement my mother purchased and sent again (at a cost of about $50, not including shipping--I don't know what that edition goes for now, but at that point in time it was a very big deal)--both disappeared at the Chinese border, and because the fourth book includes references to things the Chinese government would probably find objectionable (among other things, the headmaster of a school advises his students that they may have to rise up against their government), we suspect they were censored and destroyed. Don't let this happen to your money--the spending kind or the purchased kind. Do your research with your consulate first. *for those who could give a whistle about Harry Potter, this specific printing--first edition, first printing--included the only error Rowling has ever considered large enough to call "STOP THE PRESSES!" on. At one time a set of all three Goblet of Fire books (First Edition, First Printing ["the reverse order error"], Second Edition, First Printing [the Lily Potter/Lilly Potter misprinting], and Second Edition, Second Printing [Lily's name fixed throughout and the error scene FINALLY correct]) sold for quite a nice chunk of change. Although many millions of the two errors were printed, "at least half" are assumed to be destroyed or well under mint, thanks to their enthusiastic prepubescent readers. This was not a cheap problem for us to try and fix.

There are other members here from your country. Try to find them and see if they would like to start a coin club. I know the distance between some of them may be large but still closer than the USA. IF you could find people that go to or from the USA to your country, you might be able to get them to bring you some coins from here. I suggest you keep away from ebay unless you really, really know coins and the people your would be dealing with. IF you look on line for dealers here you could possibly find many that are reputable and willing to ship to you over there. I think the subject of on line dealers has come up frequently on this forum. You might try just asking us if we have a possible list of dealers that you could attempt to contact for coins. My first suggestion would be one called Miller's Mint. Another suggestion is that if and when you do find a dealer with coins you want and is willing to ship to you, prior to that transaction, post what you find here first.

nina, Yeah you are right. I would never want to see that happen to my money. It costs a lot of money to just buy coins to start with. Let alone shipping. I wouldn't want to loose all that for ignorance for the rules. Thanks
just carl, I already did that with my Mint Sets. I asked one American teacher on the compound with us to buy me the coins. And thankfully, she did. But she left for good. So I will have to find someone else now to help me out. The thing that I did not try yet is asking dealers if they can ship to here. If that does really work out, it will be very helpful and much cheaper to ship than other shipping services. The shipping service I'm using asks for $20 the first pound and $10 for each and every other pound. So if I want to buy coins for let's say $10 and that weighs less than a pound, I will still have to pay $20. Also let's not forget that 1 Dollar equals 3.75 Saudi Riyals. Thanks for that information. If I do find anything that is nice and worth it I will surely show you guys on here :)

Also I know most of you won't know this because you aren't Arabs and it is totally fine. But my name is Ammar. The second part of my username is Abdulfattah, my last name.

I took a quick look into US Postal regulations. They specifically prohibit the shipping of: Quote: Coins, banknotes; currency notes (paper money); securities of any kind payable to bearer; traveler's checks; platinum, gold, and silver (manufactured or not); precious stones; jewelry; and other valuable articles. ....to Saudi Arabia. I believe this to be an error on the part of caution by USPS, as I found no such specific "prohibition" in Saudi import law. Such language exists for other countries I've shipped to myself. In fact, I found a specific line item in the Saudi Import Tariff applying to items of numismatic interest, carrying a 5% import duty: http://www.customs.gov.sa/CustomsNe...SearchFor=97The obvious implication is that collectible coins acquired for that purpose are allowed. Saudi Arabia is, from a business standpoint, a pretty sophisticated country and I'm sure there are plenty of reputable dealers who would be willing to ship there.

Dave it could have something to do with the state department asking the USPS not to whether it was KSA who asked for that or we have concerns with it is anyones guess

Ammar, after what was just posted it may be a good idea to check in with the Saudi American consul. It may also be overkill, but better safe, etc.
Also, even though it's going to be ridiculous on shipping--I'd recommend not buying a bunch of silver in one shipment. One coin in a slab that's all noted for being nice and mint and so on--probably okay. Fifty coins--you're probably never going to get the shipment, Customs will.

Dave, thanks man, you just did me all the work I had to do :) So thanks for the effort. But also basebal21 and nina are right. I will have to check with the American Consulate here and see whether or not it will be a problem.
Nina, that last sentence cracked me up :P I will be sure that I only ship one coin at a time from now on. If customs take away a large shipment of my coins or silver, I might as well kill myself :P
Thanks all for the advice, it has been most helpful :)

Ammar, I can't speak for certain about your country's Customs, but I can tell you I have plenty of problems with just the USPS. Years ago I bought a copy of the musical Chess pa Svenska from overseas, and it disappeared at the Finnish border. Later I looked up postal regulations and discovered that it's probably because of music licensing--Chess pa Svenska is a Swedish-language rewrite (by the original composers) of the English-language musical Chess, and there's some technicality in copyright law that makes it illegal to import it. (Whoops.) I tend to always break up my overseas purchases, if I can help it.

Sorry mkman, I do not have any yet :P But when I do I will make sure I do post them :) Got to share things like this with the family :D
ninamason: Sorry to hear that. I think we just need to be more careful when dealing with purchases like this. But also Customs should be more lenient for reasons like your case, Or not! I mean they also take care of other people's rights. Such as your musical Chess pa Svenska's Copyright and other examples. Again we just have to be more careful with overseas deals.

The best way for you to aquire morgans would be to find someone in the states to pay. you can trade coins/ silver for them. Maybe we can set something like this up. :)
