I actually have a few, but they tend to only have one good side. Heres my GLORIA EXCERTIVS: My good GLORIA ROMANORVM coin is soaking right now...of course, nothing I own could possibly compare to the coins you guys have.

Truly amazing examples! I don't collect these but sure get tempted. Out of curiosity, what are the price ranges of coins in these higher grades. I've seen dogs in the $5-$10 range.

My two coins were in the $20-$30 range. But mine are not near as nice as Martin's coins.

Wow--very nice group! The soldiers are really well done on a few. Here is my nicest example: Constantine AE3. Trier RIC VII 538. Struck 330-335 AD. CONSTANTI-NVS MAX AVG, laureate, draped & cuirassed bust right / GLOR-IA EXERC-ITVS, two soldiers holding spears & shields with two standards between them, standards with thin pointed banners, TR dot P in ex.

I have a different officina to that one.... I had the opportunity to buy the majority of a collection of LRB, which are the coins you see here. As a result I managed to buy 40 coins ranging from $11 through to $55 with the average price being around $25. I think I got a great deal. The following coin was the $11 coin. Constantius II AE3 Obv:-- FL IVL CONSTANTIVS NOB C, Laureate, cuirassed bust right Rev:-- GLORIA EXERCITVS, Two helmeted soldiers standing with spears & shields, facing single standard between them Minted in Lugdunum (//*PLG). Reference:-- Bastien 273 (4 examples cited). RIC VII Lugdunum Unlisted with this officina. (cf RIC 281 For officina S) Martin

Gloria Romanorvm and Excertivs have been my best condition uncleaned coins....something about them seems to preserve the details.

Two rather worn ones I have. On the second one the soldier lost his head.

More great coins. Doucet, the city commemorative - soldier type is wonderful. Just processed the photos on this one.... there is still evidence of silvering in the fields. Another common one but nice condition. Constantine II AE3 Obv:-- CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C, Laureate, cuirassed bust right Rev:-- GLORIA EXERCITVS, Two helmeted soldiers standing with spears & shields, facing two standards between them Minted in Trier (//TR•S). Reference:-- RIC VII Trier 539 Martin

Some really nice detailed coins, I don't know if I have any in such a nice condition. I'll go through them a little later today.

OK, here are a couple of my favorite 'standards'. I never know whether to post full info or leave them as fodder for those who like to ID coins. These are a mite unusual in some minor way if not EF+++ or R5. Do you recognize what makes them 'unusual'? RIC 13 page VIII,539 rated C but some people make them out to be less common than that: RIC 255 page VII, 458 rated R4 but I see way too many of these for that to be accurate. Still I believe it is a coin every late Roman collector should want to own: RIC 227 page VII, 529 rated R3 officina E 'the common one'
