This coin needs conservation and slabbing. It looks like some environmental damage/verdigris is setting in in a few places.

Details are on the F/VF border. I can't tell if it's over F or under VF but there is nice detail remaining.

Easy F12, might squeeze a VF out of it. Send it to PCGS....DO NOT CLEAN IT OR TAMPER WITH IT.

Thank you guys for all the help. I would love to know what was in the collection before I saw it. My friends father was born in 1909 and I believe this is why he had the coin. The reason why I believe the collection was picked over was there were notes in the Morgan silver dollar book with how much he paid for CC Morgans. These prices were 22.95 and others a little more and some less. My guess was he started collecting at a young age. No gold coins that I ever saw. I still haven't gone through the rolled pennies and nickels plus all the loose pennies and nickels. I'm sure it's all commons but I've got my fingers crossed. There is 125 dollars in face value of silver. Not too shabby.

I sent it to PCGS. I'm getting a pretty good deal on the coin. When I get the coin back I'll post the results. Thanks.

To me, and I could be really wrong, this coin looks cleaned with Fine details.

Absolutely still worth it to send it to PCGS, totally the right move.

My initial impressions is that your coin is authentic, from the second obverse die. Not sure if it were mentioned, but it is a subtle woody.

Cheers!

Looks great to me! PCGS will be the final judge, though. Whoever did the "picking over" really had no clue.

HURRAY. I just got the email from PCGS regarding the 1909S VDB. The good news is it was NOT cleaned. Should I wait until I get it back and do a "You Vs. PCGS in another post or continue in this thread?
