Matt from Lost Dutchmen is a sponsor on another coin site as well as host of The Coin Show. Excellent podcast for coins. Never been to his shop but if I am ever in Indy, it is on my list of places to visit.

Have never been in his store but I do buy from him online from time to time. Matt is a very nice guy and does offer a variety of high and low end coins. The easiest way to know what he has to offer is to email and ask him.

The Indiana State coin Show is also coming up in Indianapolis Nov 2,and 3rd http://www.coinshows.com/indianapolis_isna.htmlSince you are a YN you might want to attend the junior auction at 1PM Saturday Coins and supplies are donated by collectors and dealers and every YN who attends is given $250 in auction money they can use to bid. (All sales are for auction money only and only kids/YN's are allowed to bid.) And you get to keep whatever you are successful bidding on. All kinds of things show up in the auction. In the past there has even been gold and platinum but that was awhile back when it was a lot cheaper. But anyway you can have so fun bidding in an auction and come away with some free stuff. There are ways to earn additional auction money but I don't know the details and it is probably too close to the show now to earn much. |

I have visited Matt's shop in Indianapolis. As an entry level collector you will find quite a bit of inventory in your price range even though his web site does focus on higher end pieces.

That is wonderful Conder101. I was going to go on Friday because I was busy Sunday, but now I might have to make some time to go. Do you have to register before the show or what? Penny Guy, thank you. You actually answered my question although everyone helped. I will be going there next time I get paid.

If you ever get near Lafayette Indiana, I would recommend Smith's Coins on Sagamore Parkway. They have a wide variety and are always very friendly.

To attend and participate in the auction, no you can just register when you get there and they give you your bidding money. For earning extra money that would have to be done ahead of time. I believe some of the things you can do to earn more money are make a presentation at a coin club meeting, do an exhibit at a coin show, serve as a coin club officer, publish an article and there are probably some others.
