treasures of the Maritimes

I must be cranky tonight so please excuse the correction but Newfoundland is NOT a Maritime province. The Maritimes existed before 1949 and continue as NB, NS and PEI.

The Maritime provinces along with the province of Newfoundland and Labrador make up the Atlantic provinces.

It's a small but important distinction to Newfoundlanders and Maritimers. Kinda like referring to BC as the Prairies.

Btw, that is a beautiful Newfoundland 200 cent gold.

Artido, what grade is your 80?
NFL are the sleepers!
think about for a moment and assume that NFL is part of the USA...
their coins would be 4 to 10 times the value!

CC I did not say it was a Maritime province, I stated I love searching for the treasures of the maritimes.? Crank hahahahaha Its ok a little sleep will fix that..hey Old Dimes I have been saying it for years about the NF being sleepers..Sooner or later when the collectors worldwide realize the short supply prices will skyrocket. My 1880 was in a US slab as MS 61 ...

I've never heard of someone selling all their coins, and finding them again. But that feeling of completing a set is awesome, I remember when I finished my Imperial Russia 1905-1909 note set.

So what 20 cent pieces you need,.

1880, and 1899 (small 99s), then I will complete the set.

Just picked up the 1899 (hooked 99s) and the 1896 (lrg 96s)

So I don't know much about NFL coins, and recently learned that they made gold coins. I saw prices here:
http://numicanada.com/pieces-de-mon...rs-1865-1888
Are these prices reflective of the market? And if so, how much more would you say would be reflective of coins rarity? 2 fold? 3 fold? More?

SHAFTA9a , I checked he ones I have and they are tweeners ... Sorry my friend...Mysterious if you want prices that are are more reflective of the current market I would suggest getting a copy of the Canadian Coin news..Its a Bi weekly paper and is pretty much up to date with prices...The second part of your question is a bit tougher. The more rare the date, the lower the mintage the more it will command..Such as the 1880.. Only 2500 minted back in 1880 How many still survive today .We can only speculate on the graded coins as a reference. But I would venture a guess that less than 25 % are still around..maybe less....

If any one out there has better numbers on what might still be out there share it with us...
