'American Pickers' is an educational show that ALL coin collectors should take the time to watch.
It gives you an insight on how a coin dealer needs to operate and pay all of his business expenses out of his profits.

Sometimes makes you wonder if auction may be the better way to go, especially for big ticket items, where authentication is essential.

Also makes me appreciate that authentication and accurate grading for your own interests is essential.

Perhaps ebay rather than dealer better for low value items.

I will ALWAYS negotiate with a dealer, slabbed coins or not. Slabs don't have prices on them.

@artido - that's the same one I listed 2 or 3 posts before :P

I'm watching it, I find there's not alot of eye appeal to it, I will wait unti saturday and try to get my dealer to give it to me for the same price!

Yes, Torex is next weekend and he may find the coin for $100 or $110, but he has to pay admission and then parking and then gas money.

Total that up and it's way more than the one currently selling on ebay.

The dealer in the ebay link has been good to deal with for me, so if I liked the coin I would pull the trigger (I just bought an MS 63 1936 dollar from them recently!).

I've bought a lot from that guy as well. Honest and reliable and stands behind his sales. However, if you want a better price, take a chance that it won't sell and he might relist it as an auction. Otherwise, it's not that rare. Or wait for an MS65 to come along. I just sold mine for $290 a month or so back and I've seen a couple of others around the $300 mark. Prices are down noticeably from last year so a good time to buy; not so good to sell :-(.
