The previous offers for storage are very generous, but they forget I have an entire bank vault at my disposal!

Banks get robbed all the time. And in northern states, it's worth one's life just getting to the bank through all that yucky snow, ice, and slick roads. Best send it here in the desert where nobody ever comes and where it never snows.

Sometimes I buy something really cool so I put it in the safe and forget about it...for awhile. We recently found 3 buckets of foreign coins that were buried in the back room that we'd forgotten about.
Your gold coin is a better find, tho :)

Now you've done it. Since you forgot about her, her feelings are terribly hurt. She wants you to send her to me so she can feel better. lol, j/k. She is a beaut, Bone.

It's very nice I'm sure.

By the way, what is it?

WOW!! That must have been a nice re(discovery). I am pretty sure that I don't have anything like that hiding on me. I do have an NGC MS-64 Buffalo nickel in my t-shirt drawer though!

It's a US $5 liberty gold coin.

Yeah, I kinda get that, but I was wondering why it's special.

Suppose if I collected the series, it wouldn't be such a surprise to come across after forgetting about having it.

Since I don't collect the series and it's gold-Au, this lowly (Early American Silver) collector was happily surprised

Thanks for taking a look

Hey, it wasn't really lost, and at least it was in a "safe" place! I have a few of them, they are nice, but when compared to the $5 Indian Head there's no contest!

No worries, did a bit of digging and was interesting reading about the Half Eagle's history, evolution and how it's changed over the years.

Is a nice looking coin, especially in high grades.

Here is a link if you want to see the rest of my (meager) gold coinage. I think now I've got 3 1/2 eagles including a 1912 Indian; 3 Double Eagles, one a gorgeous 1908 St Gaudens; a (Lib) Eagle; an some foregin issues...

Mmm, I can't seem to link to the gallery. I've been having problems for a while actually. Not sure what's going on.

Some of the early American designs are quite nice and as for the St Gaudens double eagle, well that has to be one one the nicest coins of all time. Must get one of those one day, but it's not likely to be for a while. The Liberty 5D is more within my budget.
