VERY nice Capped Bust Half! Terrific detail and nice die cracks! I see an AU-58 for this beauty! (Due to general chatter in the fields, slight wing/eagle head wear on the reverse and small obverse rim dings).

I would like to see this beauty in it's entirety with less harsh lighting. I love the Die Cracks!

The rim nicks (which are apparent on photo 2) would certainly knock this one down to AU50-53 at best. And I'm questioning the luster, the fields appear flat, especially on the reverse. It's just my opinion.

I think it's AU with a good chance of going into a details holder. It looks like a $500-$800 coin.

Quote: I think it's AU with a good chance of going into a details holder. It looks like a $500-$800 coin. Unfortunately I have to agree. AU Details. It looks cloudy in spots in the fields which could indicate that it has been whizzed in the past or at the very least harshy cleaned. Still a nice highly detailed example that would go well in a type set.

I have no reason to believe this has been cleaned, but I can see how the photos can be misleading.

For those wondering about the die marriage, this is a GR-12 (formerly JR-15).

How rare is that variety Tom_B?

It's considered an R-2 using the same definitions for rarity as the BHNC. Therefore, it is considered fairly common with a range of 501-1000 pieces extant.

It's definitely a nice coin. I would say a high end AU that's been Dipped. AU Details IMO

dipped? possibly and more than likely, but a super coin neverless. Possibly a low grade mint state, 60/61 with details for the cleaning - love to see this one in hand, super coin that has survived a long time in great condition.

This coin has great details and tons of meat on it but the surfaces are not what most people look for. Silver that old has color unless it's been played with. I'd guess it's AU+ Details and cleaned. It could make UNC Details though.
I've owned older bust coins like this and was never able to get them in problem-free holders.
