I have no idea. But lets hope someone who knows about it can help. The coin looks cool but it's strange.

Nice! That is one cool coin. Wonder if that seller will sell it for that much? If he does, I almost want to walk around w/ one in my pocket to wear it down, then send it in for grading

unless it is obvious that it was hit by a sander, it will grade. the lowball ike stuff is kind of sketchy to me, because nearly all of the low end coins have been manipulated. I had a pocket piece that I wore down to about XF-40 after a year and a half myself, I think getting it down to this takes some help.

That's definitely a P01. I like the idea of a P01 slabbed Ike .

Yeah, I dont know for sure that I've ever seen a P01 in a slab. Definitely not common.

Will TPGs slab dateless coins? Do they just label it 'genuine' or 'authentic'? I realize in this case the date is known due to the design.
Very cool coin, BTW. I love PO1s and FR2s.

Now you have persuaded me to pick one coin and carry it around in my pocket everywhere I go! Any suggestions for Canadian coinage? What denomination

How about one of the new loonies? I've got one in not very nice shape. Do you think the design/strike is too weak to get that far and be anything more that a piece of metal?

I wonder if you could make one like that with one of those ammo brass cleaning media type bowls. Lol I can't think of the name.

No reeding. Weighs 21.2 g. Raymo- I have wondered the same thing about using a tumbler.

Someone here posted a coin that was graded P-01 once. I think, THINK, it was through NGC.
And I remember when you picked this fellow up! My advice would be the same as it is in a lot of these cases: Ask. Write to PCGS or NGC and say you have a coin with a demonstrable date (via bicentennial design) that is, technically, dateless and ask if this alone disqualifies it from getting a grade. Make it clear that you know there are other factors that can get it bodybagged and are not asking them to weigh those via correspondence--you are only interested in knowing whether the very clear, very obvious diagnostic outweighs the no-longer-visible actual date.

Quote: jbuck is the one to ask about an Ike. He'd know. I like it. For a dollar, you did very good. I would not send it in. It could be the photos, but I think it had some help getting into that condition. Then again, it may have spent most of its life in a casino. Too difficult to call. I would keep it for what it is, not what I wish it would be.
