Think about that... if everybody who regularly orders boxes rerolls a box and spreads the dumps around while simultaneously cleaning those banks out of all customer wrapped coin to ensure that no solid rolls or anything that is like an instant shot of crack to the brain is picked up... the effects of this will be mitigated and people will write it off as made for TV bs.

Thats a great idea fade , good way for us to protect our turf , last thing we want is the masses cathcing on to the game the next few days are the crucial ones as far as impact from the show so most people watching the tv show that decide to do it will most likely do it in the next few days or they will forget other wise so everyone should take fades advise if you have time and dump abound your area

I like the idea Fade. Unfortunately, banks in my area won't accept cwr's. I guess I could at least drop off a few loose coins at various banks, and make sure to pick up any customer coin.

I didn't see the show but I have ended up buying some coin that has been coin roll hunted a dozen times from someone in my town. I have been looking for a "commercial" coin wrapper with this every idea in mind, wrapping boxes periodically and dumping them around town.

I was around 14 years old when I figured out this crh thing, without television or internet. Now I'm 50. Once the average Joe discovers that it's all just a pipe dream, he will (through lack of finds), give it up.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors... Roll hunting since '77 Dirt fishing since '72

@fistfulladirt---Few have ever hit the proverbial nail on the head as well as you just did. If the preppers intend to fund their ammo purchases with all the silver they'll be pulling out of circulating coin, they'll end up doing their fighting with those little plastic forks and knives they got from Wendy's.

Fistfull/Fat Freddy, I'd guess the general audience that watches doomsday preppers aren't your "Average Joe". If this would have been on say "Housewives of Atlanta", I wouldn't be as concerned. As someone who has my own concerns about where this country is heading, I can tell you the a majority of the audience share characteristics that would lend them towards CRHing. They are savers. They view gold and silver as the currency of the future. And despite what you see on TV, most are on a budget. They live below their means. Most have a ready made CRHing budget in the form of some 6, 9, or 12 month emergency fund. I bet the 'end of the world as we know it' forums are buzzing about CRHing as we speak.
willy, They didn't mention copper. However, Pawn Stars just had a bit this week where the father found the old man's penny stash. Several 5 gallon buckets of pre-82 pennies. They talked about the copper and the legality of melting it.

The more attention this gets the better chance that all banks/credit unions will start to charge a fee per box. I'm down to only one place that does not charge me $3.50 per box.

If everyone CRHs, it will become pointless for ANYONE to CRH....

@tpg22---That is one major bummer. The bank and credit union I use still don't charge, and I'm truly grateful for that. I wonder how long I have left before they lower the boom.
@broseph---You're totally correct. Regrettably, my area is already so thickly populated with CRHers that we're presently almost at that point.

Not just the crazies watch that show...
While I was picking up four of my boxes today, the head teller (50ish year old lady, super nice) goes "So you do what that dude on doomsday preppers was doing right? You find lots and lots of silver?" I put on my best stupid face, looked dead at her, and said, "I have no idea what you're talking about, I keep the collectable ones and errors. I find maybe 3 or 4 silver coins a week."

Hahaha that's the trick... Seriously though, what fistfulladirt said really makes sense. Most will eventually give up from the low returns -- you have to search very high volume to make profit -- and does everybody have that much cash on hand?
