Why two coins in one thread?

Good advise was given above was to start a second thread on the other coin ... otherwise all of us are going to get confused on replies and lose interest.

Please edit those photos out and start a new thread.

To the original coin ... you state some level of ANACS certification ... can you show a photo of whatever ANACS info you have on this coin?

Okay, so show and tell over :) I thought they went nicely together but we will stick just to this coin on this post, the 1946. I just attached photos of the ANACS certification as requested.

You might want resubmit the coin to PCGS to get their seal of approval.

I would consider sending it back to ANACS as I think the history and documentation of the coin with that company would be a plus for my collection and if I ever decided to sell it. I acknowledge that for resell PCGS demands higher prices in most markets but I personally will never spend a dime with PCGS. That company is the biggest FARCE on and in the coin collecting planet. Without getting into details, as long David Hall is a part of that company I will never do business with them. I know many will disagree, and that is fine. You are entitled you your opinion just as I am.

I just located an auction for an off-center cent with characteristics similar to the cent strike on this dime: http://www.ebay.com/itm/300864331748

In light of this new information, I can see no obvious red flags that would indicate the use of counterfeit dies.

Is there a way for me to see the coin? When I clicked on your link all it said was item is more than 90 days old and wouldn't show the item.

The period at the end of the sentence was messing up the link. This should work.

Then I would do ANACS vs. NGC for errors.

I appreciate the extra effort and research MikeDiamond. I am not typically a slab collector, most of my collection is raw so Initially wanted to keep it as is in original way as I got it, but considering the possible value and significance of the coin, I think I will send it to ANACS to be encapsulated and keep the original document and make a shadow box to display it with the coin

Mike,

This is a puzzle to me, wouldn't the die strike of the cent piece or dime obscure the face of each side? If authentic? I can't guess what price this may be as you said $10K to the north?

I don't understand your question. Most of the dime design has been obliterated by the impact of the cent dies.

Don't send the certificate back in with it, you won't get it back.

Thanks! I couldn't picture how it got to that stage.
