No sorry Skyshark, it has nothing to do with Palau. Palau does have some beautiful coins though.

I'm running out of clues here! OK, here's a good one:

The words in the riddle are not important.

Before I write up a lengthy explanation, is it a Sacagawea dollar?

Now that you gave the answer, it's obvious that the first and last letters of your poem spelled out dime merc. Unless that's an amazing coincidence as well.

Don't step in the water, for the crabs have been known to swarm
Envision the future and you'll be suprised to see a koi
More than one have fallen victim to wishing upon the wrong star
Come closer and you just may find that this pigeon is actually an eagle

D M
E I
M R
C E

I think CheezyFries' answer was still better and should at least get an honorable mention.

TJB17 explained it well enough. Your last hint gave it away.

Congratulations Trickworm!

PM me your address!

Yes, Cheezyfries' answer was definitely a great answer and amazing considering the bizarre coincidence at hand, but it wasn't "better" than Trickworm's answer, because it indeed was Mercury dime and I don't have any Zambian coins. The real irony of everything is that Cheezyfries' avatar is a Mercury dime... so I thought eventually he would be the one to get it.

Thank you all for playing! I hope it wasn't too much of a strain on the mind for all.

As usual, I over-analyzed everything and it cost me the contest.

Congrats, Trickwom!

By "better" I meant that Cheezy's answer was amazing 1.) considering it hit all the markers dead on and 2.) he knew about a Zambian coin that well. It just blew my mind that it was wrong.
