I have all the coloured coins as well as the gold plated versions. They make a great set with the three in a row; silver, gold and coloured. They did a great job with the bison and moose as well but the wolf is still my favourite.

p.s. I believe they are inkjet printed rather than 'painted'.

beautiful. I generally don't mind aftermarket painted coins. I have a coloured ASE but yea it takes away from the silver a bit.

i agree they are beatifull coin....but why would someone pay 75$ for paint....thats what you pay....they are making money on collectors, its almost stealing...those coins have no merit at all as a rare collectable coin/bullion...they are worth the price of silver....point made....if its your thing...go ahead...keep on spending...LOL

I also noticed people selling 24k gold gilded versions of this set but can't find anything on it. Anyone know if these are also aftermarket or if they are an actual RCM product?

Both the coloured and the gilded versions are produced by a private mint in Germany. There are a couple of ebay sellers from Germany (and at least one from the US now with the Bison version) that are the primary sellers of them that I have seen. Mintages of each are 5,000 I believe.

Looks pretty nice. Much better than a colourized ASE I saw, but that's just because I have a personal bias against vertical red/white stripes -- Walking Liberty looks much more dignified in gray -- :P

Quote: Mintages of each are 5,000 I believe. I've seen some on ebay that have a certificate that state only 1,000 mintage, but I wouldn't believe that, they could make as many as they want and always say "Mintage of only ______"

Yes, I think some of the earlier ones were only 1,000 but I don't know that for sure as I only have certificates with the later ones. I would like to think they would be honest enough to stick with the mintage they say. However there's nothing stopping another mint doing the same thing with the same end result of course.

looks nice but I am not sure it should be worth very much more than the original
