a Buffalo nickel with raised ground would only be from 1913. Can you get a close-up of the mintmark location (under five cents on the reverse)?

it almost looks like there might be a mintmark there, but that may just be a little dirt and wishful thinking.

btw

Im not sure about the mint mark, its pretty rough around there. So this is a raised ground you think? It seems like it to me but I'm not sure if its just so worn that it appears that way

Its not the clearest in the world, I'm using my camera phone and a magnifying glass. I do have a photo scanner do you think that would be better?

It is definitely a "raised ground" nickel from 1913. I see what you think might be a mintmark. That wouldn't be a 'D'. The D mintmarks are more centered and much more bold for that level of wear. I've seen some weak 'S' mintmarks that far over so it's possible, but I'm leaning towards it being a P-mint

1913 thats pretty sweet. Yea I think you are right. I bought a dollars worth of these out of one of my cashiers drawers a year or so ago and none of the other 19 have any mint marks that I can see to compare. Any tips on dating the others with no date? I found a picture with 1920 1921 and 1924 differences in the ribbon and hair but that only helped with 2 (pretty sure they are 1921, again no mint that I can see).
Thanks

I honestly can not tell if there is a MM there or not. This is one of mine. See if you can get a clearer pic...

This is from using my scanner on the highest setting so I think its as good as I can get it. The more I look the more I do see a super faint D but as said before that may just be tired eyes and wishful thining

I think it's a 1913 from Philly. Always nice when you can know the date without having to see the date.

Yeah, don't date a buffalo. Nothing good can come of that.

Yeah, it would be much more pronounced even at that level of wear. I see what you are talking about, but that is not a MM IMO.
