It does look kinda "sunk" into the coin. Wonder if a acetone dip would answer your question?

So...that silver looking piece would be the zinc showing? or maybe something that's struck onto the coin?

Could it be a Lamination Peel that fell off? Older Cents it is pretty "common" due to poor quality of metal.
That was my first though, maybe the copper layer Peeled, was fell off, leaving the zinc layer exposed

From what I have been told, lamination errors only occur on copper cents, not zinc.

It's a struck-in piece of metal. Probably a little bit of zinc lost from another error coin.

I don't know for sure, John. I'm just going by what I was told on a different forum. Sorry for the bad advise, if I'm wrong about it.

Depending if it added zinc to the coin, or if the back half was removed. The weight would probably tell which way.

Coop....it weighs exactly 2.50 gr.It's a small area,it probably wouldn't change the weight to much.

That is the correct weight for a normal coin.
