F-12, being very close to F-15 in my opinion.

It looks so close between a VG10 and F12... I thought the latter at first, but can't argue with what ICCS gave it. And it is a very nice coin.

May be overgraded by NGC but definitely a coin that belongs in a hard holder. Why won't ICCS provide what collecters need.

I'd call it F-12. I'd crack it out and submit raw.

Just to clarify... Thomas Jefferson has a nice somewhat RARE.. NFLD coin, which if I had one I would try to get the best possible grade that I could out of this coin.

nickelsguy, this is not about "getting the number I want"; it is about fostering a strong understanding of coin grading. All I was after was an objective explanation of this result. If I knew everything there is to know about grading Newfoundland coins I would not be asking for guidance. The only number I wanted was one printed on an ICCS ticket and that is what I have.
I don't care to be assaulted with your sarcasm again.

And, of course, I thank everyone else who took the time to offer something constructive to this topic.

The US services have a real problem correctly grading Canada/NFLD coins. This sure looks like a strong VG 10 coin . Great piece to own!You will likely get more for it when you sell it in the NGC holder rather than cracking and submitting raw. ICCS is hard on these!

Sarcasm was meant in fun. Sorry if it upset you. Yours is a nice problem free VG example.

=) Perhaps I should consider SGS; what would be the trend at MS70?
