I just bookmarked this thread and posted both the ebay and this CCF links to my niece. Will reply on why this was done later.

Lol ok? I can't wait to hear why. Thanks everyone for the congrats. I've wanted one of these more than any other numanistic item ever, save maybe the 1961 Franklin Proof DDR. All of your congrats make the satisfaction of owning one that much more special. Thank you all. Jim61, out of curiosity, when could we expect your comprehensive report on Natick notes to be finishe? I can't wait to purchase a copy, perhaps even an auto graphed one.

GC: Congrats!!!!!!!
I see you were the only bidder, and you got a little nervous and increased your bid 2xs. How much were you willing to go on this puppy?

Jim61- thanks for the update, ill be happy just to have an authority publish such a report. I'm thinking of tryino put together a guide specificaly about the different experimental notes. KopperKen You are correct. I took the opening bid after I had talked tothe seller. A short while later I realized I needed to set my max bid (i had forgot what with the excitement of finding the note in ebay). I set it to $642. Then I discovered watchcount.com and noticed 2 other people watching it. So at the very end of the auction I again raised my max bid to 842, just to b sure. . Which would have been 850 with shipping. Which would have totally blown my budget but soo been worth it. $500 was to much already lol, but again worth it in my mind. Actual retail value? I'm not sure. Its hard to price this as few havd sold at auction, at least that I can find. This was the first nonerror I've found for sale. I'm curious who the other two people were who were watching. I wonder if it was anyone here on CCF. On a side note, does anyone kno if you have to be a member of PCGS to view the photos in their forum? I'm trying to load this page on experimental notes, but none of the pictures will load. Never had this problem before.

GoldenChest: I learned something today --- I'd never heard of the Natick Test Notes --- I do know of Natick as being a city in Massachusetts though. I don't tend to pay too much attention to Federal Reserve Notes but I'm thinking this might very well make a good candidate for certification --- IF you could get NGC or PCGS to attribute it as a Natick test note.

I wish I could get NGC to certify paper currency. I do plan on submitting it to PCGSCurrency once I have a few more notes.

You could send it into PMG (Paper Money Guarantee) which is a sister company to NGC. Both are based out of Florida. PCGS-Coin is from CA, and PCGS-Currency (which has no relation to PCGS-Coin) which is from IL. I know PMG recognizes all experimental papers on FRNs.

Never heard of a natick test note, but if only 14 exist, then this is definitely a great find.
Congrats on your purchase!

Interesting...I did not know of these test notes. I liked G. William Miller's signature as a collecting teenager back in 1979-81 and now have an autographed 1977A $1 note, a few crisp unc $1's and a $5 crisp unc 1977A. Finding a crisp unc $10 1977A is proving to be difficult. G. William Miller is the only person to have served as both Fed chairman and Treasury secretary.

Looking at uspapermoney.info, there are 1977A $10 star notes printed on the Natick test paper. Very interesting...I am going to have to keep my eye out for one of those. Issued out of the Richmond Federal Reserve district. I would love to have a crisp uncirculated one as my $10 note in the 1977A collection.
