Some amazing coins this time. Not sure if there is anyone left to vote but I will give another 24 hours before I count them and declare the winner.

Ok guys and gals the public have voted and we have ourselves a winner !!!

Another fantastic contest with a particularly high number of quality coins on display.

Gold - Fvrvs Rvfvs Germanicus. A pleasing dupondius with a pleasant patina not to mention a very interesting write up. This coin ran away with it and stole the show.

Silver - Maridvnvm Geta. A stylish peice of silver takes the silver.

Bronze - AncientNoob Caligula. Yet again on the leader board only just missing out on silver position.

Well done to the winners and thanks to all who took part.

Fvrvs, the next smackdown contest is all yours. Also please mail me your address and I will send you the Probus ant.

I am humbled and grateful to the 'electors' for the honors shown to the noble Germanicus. I hesitate to accept the prize but in the spirit of the competition I accept it on behalf of the genius of Germanicus (and will attempt to redeem this victory myself by providing some sort of similar type of laurels for the top entries).

I have a busy day ahead of me but the topic is already in my mind (in animo volvo)

The Topic will include;

Trajan Decius

Theodosius II

The "Prophet" (Muhammet)

and much in between ........ as I have been thinking about this one for a month (possibly a year)

Be prepared for some reading
(frustrated writer ..... dontchya know !)

I shall give you just a peek
My time is quite limited today but I hope it will be ready in the next 24 hours ....

...... Some will say concerning them: "They were three and their dog, the fourth"; and some will say: "They were five, and their dog, the sixth" - all this being merely guesswork; and still others will say: "They were seven, and their dog, the eighth." Say: "My Lord knows their number best. Only a few know their correct number. So do not dispute concerning their number, but stick to what is evident, and do not question anyone about them."

Great Smackdown Jimbo, very interesting. You were able to gather quite the lot of participants and voters, well done.

FR- I was baffled by your statement, and thought about what could all of these figures have in common. All I can think is it comes back to those dang Christians.

Jimbo my friend .... the message I get is "does not wish to receive email". No hurry over here .... You can 'google' me and end up in the depths of ebay. From where you might shout a message.
