Macrinus definitely was the 'victim' of a secret plot by the surviving members of the Severan Dynasty. The son of Julia Soaemias (Elagabalus) was chosen by his aunt (Julia Maesa) as being the only remaining choice for the re establishment of the dynasty. In fact Elagabalus was presented to the legions as being the actual son and heir of Caracalla who despite being a miserable excuse for a human being had been much beloved by the soldiers. Long and short if Macrinus had had the sense of most tyrants he would have 'eliminated' these problem females early on and any offspring would have been sent to the salt mines. While perhaps a small stretch ..... I think Macrinus counts.
According to Suetonius Augustus in his doddering old age was hurried on to his reward by Livia via some poison applied to his favorite fig tree. Later Tiberius after surprising his attendants by reviving after having been pronounced deceased was smothered with a pillow by Macro and poor old Claudius was served up a special mushroom by the wiles of Agrippina in order to 'speed up' the succession. While they were certainly helped on their way we don't think of them as being victims of assassination, the normal succession was followed and the heir who was anticipated proclaimed in their place.

When I said strictest sense I meant because assassination is generally a term for a 'suprise' attack whereas Macrinus was caputured and then at a later point executed. However I dont want to be too fussy about entries, I really liked the coin and think you should put it back.

I think the host can vote, but it would be sensible to withhold it and cast it in the event of a tie.

Wow, this is the hardest one yet in terms of picking winners. I could put at least five of them in a hat and just draw names. But since I have to make a rank order, here are my votes:
Gold: Augustus1, Julius Caesar
Silver: Martin, Geta
Bronze: FR, Germanicus
