I have the Intercept Shield type set album. I would not characterize it as superior to the Dansco album.
1) In my opinion, the Dansco pages appear to be better built. The Intercept pages' glossy surfaces are not adhered well to the cardboard. If you are not careful with the insertion or removal of coins, the surface edges nearest the round cutouts will separate.
2) I can't comment on the 7070 in terms of what spaces are included or omitted. The Intercept misses many spacers for older series. Example: for halves, the Intercept's earliest holder is Capped Bust 1807-1836. For dimes, its Capped Bust 1828-1837.
3) Be careful if you ever need to unscrew the aluminum pins which hold the album together. They are made from soft aluminum, and the threads can easily become galled up because of the soft metal and coarsely-cut threads. I'm speaking from experience! If you do take them apart, make sure that the threads are clean before you reassemble (a small amount of grease on the threads will save you from trouble).

I bought the Intercept Shield type album to get me started. The album is housed in a nice box, and overall, it looks nice. However,I intend to purchase the Dansco 7070 as soon as it becomes available.

with hesgut, I assembled my own version of a type set. Included some variations not in a 7070, eliminated some variations that were in a 7070.

The past post and current post should give you an idea on how this purchase is in question. Good luck in your quest.

this seems like a lie, "discontinued"? really guy?... rare I could understand cause they are hard to find but seriously?....

At this point for all intensive purposes its been discontinued. I've stopped keeping track be weve got to be at the years point by now for when the last runs of them were.

Theres a legitimate chance youll never see a new one come out. It doesn't take this long to update the album if they were serious about it

My LCS still has a few of these, or at least they did a few months back when I picked one up.

I have the opposite problem - a 7070 sitting empty on my shelf, and no wherewithal at the moment to fill it. No, you can't have mine.

My LCS says that he doubts we will ever see another 7070. He said that Dansco is a small company who's bread and butter is corporate binders and albums. He said they will update pages, but he doubts they will ever ramp up to do a new album again.

Dansco is my album of choice. I like the construction and the look of the albums. But I am getting tired of waiting for the 7070 to come out. Why can't they just make the old album again if they don't want to update it. I wouldn't care.

This is something they probably should have been doing all along.

I just bought two 7070's for $10 each. Walked into a LCS I had never been to before in my home town during a visit and two were sitting on the used album shelf (both were like new). Sadly I had just purchased one on ebay for $70 because I was fed up looking around. Talk about irony. I gave one of them to my brother so the two I now have cost basis out to $45 each, not bad. One sits empty (it's the really old version) the other is 8 holes shy of complete.
