I haven't been invited to anything at that level but I have participated in a number of online discussions similar to what you describe for other organizations and subjects and gotten paid in all cases as promised. I have also done a number of surveys for the RCM on what themes I find interesting etc which have paid the usual dollar or two each so I know they're out there doing this sort of thing. As @yoshirules says, legitimate ones will not be asking for your credit card number or your online bank account password so if that sort of thing comes up at any point it's time to disconnect.

p.s. RCM customer service may or may not know anything about this. RCM Marketing would have contracted the survey company who would take care of all arrangements including inviting participants.

No invitation to participate has been sent to me yet. If I get one, I'll let you know.

I received a phone call about this early this week.. The other 2 stages include a formal sit down interview and the third part involved video taping of some sort... It all sounded kinda strange to me so I turned it down.. The online forum involved having to be online at least 4 times and at least 20 mins each time to qualify for the 100$, or something like that.. I'm sure I've botched up the details some..

I'm very interested in having people hear me ramble on and on about coins. Now I might get paid for it? Wow win, win.

I'm very weary of scams. Although never happening to me, my brother had his credit card info stolen twice, apparently they made a fake copy and was using it in Nova Scotia and Montreal at the same time. As much as I dislike ebay and paypal for their outrageous fee's, that buyer protection makes online shopping a lot safer.

I got the same email as well. I haven't done anything yet. I'm still not sure how legit this is, but it's somewhat comforting to see another member here got it as well.

I haven't received any messages from the RCM regarding this. However, I did receive a call to have my air-ducks cleaned.

Hi chubbycheeks!

I'm sure we're both weary of scams, but in this case I believe you meant that you are wary of scams.

Be afraid... be very afraid...

Just remember that people disguise themselves as others to gain access to your private info. They can be cable guys, telephone company, water, credit cards, banks, and even computer experts claiming to want to fix your broken computer. Play along with them and call up Marketplace (CBC). Sting them nice.

I don't think it's a good idea to play along with scam artists.

My advice would be to totally ignore any suspicious offers.

Check into it if you are interested, there's always a possibility it's real as I've taken part in many such things, but definitely check it out first. Useful links:

@NuMoosematist - I guess I could've used wary but I used weary because of what happened to my brother twice. But it didn't happen to me so your right using wary would probably have been better.

I'm not %100 sure if I will proceed yet, I should do some homework on the group today to see what's what.

You will probably have to give them some private financial stuff in order to receive payment, and that's when it gets dicey. I actually have an account set up for just this sort of thing - originally for PayPal verification purposes - that only has $1 in it.

I received an email about this as well. I'm still not sure how legit this is. Has anyone said yes to this yet?
