Luckily the Dansco doesn't have a hole for the overdate so I only have 2 more to go.

It will cost you more money to complete the last 5 than it did to get all the others.
Actually the 16-D OR the 42/1 would do the same.
Good thing the 42/1-D wasn't included.
Now you do what I do.
Sit back and save your money so that maybe you can fill one of those holes each year.
Or say 'Heck with it' and move on to a new issue.

For dates I can't afford... I have a folder, so I just find the right mintmark and turn them date-down.

One of my biggest dislikes of Dansco is their inability to make a Folder or Album where there is no empty slots at the end. For example even when you finish, there will still be those empty slots at the end. Why I stick to Whitman.
You said second set. How complete is the first set?

My 42/1 cost more than my 16-D  but she's a beauty and one of my all time favorite coins. Oregon coin geek.....*** GO BEAVS ! ! ! ***

I hear you on the holes, Carl. annoying! I fill them usually with proof examples, or other high-grade examples. Occasionally with other oddities like counterstamped coins or errors.

With my old Library of Coins merc album I've been filling the extras with low ball type Mercs.

In this specific case, it nicely lends itself to a DCAM Proof pair. Or, that's how I'd do it.  |

As annoying as empty holes are in an album, I just can't put the wrong coin in the hole. That would bother me even more that I "cheated". And my heirs would be disappointed to learn that the valuable coins aren't so valuable. I have no problem with a low grade 1916D (I have one in my first album), even though most of the rest of the set is AU or better. At least I know it is the right coin.

just carl-my completed set is in a Dansco, no 42/1 thank goodness. I wondered upon my second set at a local coin club meeting. I purchased the set about half way finished. I may take the opportunity to move my keys from my first set to the second and upgrade them in the Dansco. My first set has some nice ms grade coins as well as some lesser quality. seems like a good time to upgrade.
