Another one with a very wide range, EF40 to AU53. I guess that is why these are a hobby and not an investment for me. Those 4 grades differ a lot in price and trying to buy them at a show can be a challenge.

This was a coin I picked up at a coin show by accident. I bought it as an AU50.
PCGS graded this one AU55. I'm pleased with that grade. This will be in my sons collection when I am done with it.
The grades for this one were all over the place with 1 - AU55, 5 - AU53's, 6 - AU50's, 1 - EF45's, 2 - EF40's.
I have decided to limit the raw Walkers that I buy to ones that are really well struck. I'm hoping there are some graded AU58's at the show tomorrow. Since they are very rare I'm not counting on it.

AU-53 is what I was thinking.

I guess you really need to know the typical strike quality for early Walkers to begin to grade these. I obviously do not, but I thank you for the learning experience.

You are welcome dave700x. I hope to get a little better at it soon. In the mean time I will over pay in some cases and make out in others. For me this is a hobby that costs money not an investment that needs to make money. Most other hobbies consume something and have no real worth in the end. At least these are always worth 50 cents.

I think it's real tough to grade from these images because they really don't show luster at all.

Wow, that's really surprising. Mine has considerably more detail and I thought it was AU55.

I think that AU55 is a fair grade. Pics are only worth +/- a grade.. Nicecoin! Tougher date!
