I could not find the words to say it better dbrablec ... Quote: something like a very old person. worn, used - but full of value, both sentimenatl, and genuine.
I truly enjoy honestly circulated coins that have served their time in commerce and are full of stories of how they came to be. Imagine the stories of how these came to us today ... such is the joy of low-ball coins. David

I made "Pop 1" for PCGS PO-01 1859 IH last year. It can be done.

nickelsearcher that is an awwwwsome coin. Love it. How much you think it's worth? $25? $40? Either way fantastic coin. Where'd you get a piece like that?

With all due respect westcoin ... why are you continuing to hijack my thread with your coin and commentary on it? I would prefer that you leave my thread to my coin. Please feel free to start any new thread you wish to discuss any appropriate topic. Quote: How much you think it's worth? $25? $40? Likely quite a bit more than that ... and if I can get it in a PCGS PO01 then the sky is the limit to dedicated lowball collectors. Mind you ... there has never been a PCGS certified PO01 Walker ... and I very much doubt they will create such a beast for this coin. It's off to PCGS shortly ... will update when the results are known. David

I am no expert with lowballs, but I think the device details on the 21-D are too strong for poor. I think it would be nearly impossible to get a poor grade on a walker because the date would probably not be legible on a coin worn enough for the grade. I hope I am wrong for your sake. Good luck with the submission.

David,
Regardless the opinions of your pcgs "wizards", you've got a fantastic key date coin and it looks like maybe, just maybe, a new collecting interest!
A set of circulated walkers would really be a set to behold. I look forward to following your progress.

Sorry David, didn't mean to step on your thread. I've been shut in all weekend and have been reading and web surfing - since it's so iced up outside here in North Texas, I really wasn't trying to thread jack your super lowball walker. Just wasn't thinking really (that isn't even my coin I shared). Must be the freezing cold affecting my brain which went to my manners. Hope you can forgive me this transgression, I don't want to make anything but friends here at CCF. So I'm sorry.

This well worn Walker was sent to the PCGS wizards on Saturday ... so in 4 weeks or so we'll know their verdict. Odds are this is another FR02 example of the series ... agree with the wisdom above that the nature of the coins design is such that the date/mm wear away before the perimeter devices ... such is why there has never been a PCGS PO01 Walker. Quote: Hope you can forgive me this transgression No worries westcoin ... fully forgiven. I apologize to you for becoming somewhat possessive of the tread ... truly appreciate all your contributions to the CCF. PCGS answer in a while ... I'll update then. David

I would say it has a shot at poor but I would be comfortable saying it is a FR-2. BTW, how do you know it is a 1921-D?

Update ... the PCGS wizards have rendered their opinions on this 1921-D Walker .... 1921-D Walking Liberty half dollar ... PCGS FR02 This verdict confirms that there will never be a PCGS certified PO01 Walker ... the fact is that the date/mm wear away before the perimeter devices. Still ... a nice coin for my newest lowball set. David
