My camera wont get better or larger image but with a 15X lop it looks to be bent over copperit may come off if I were to pick at it

it is a die crack. not the double ear. lots of them out there.

If it a die crack and there a lot of them out there can anyone show me a picture?

I am not saying your wrong but I have a very good friend who has a coin shop here and he has not seen one like this Plus I have ck thought chucks site coppercoin and didnt find a match

I don't think that this coin is like yours,the copper can be pull off there a space between the end of the copper. Its like the copper cover pulled away with the die to me

Yes, you're certainly right amac44. It does beg to be pulled off of his coin, but I didn't want to suggest that yet!

This is a pair of die crack that are the normal to me.

The 1997 looks to be movable with a little poking

you wont find die cracks on coppercoins.com Chuck has no interest in them and don't post them. if the metal moves on your coin it is just a strike through that has not fallen off yet. you MAY have a premium in it if you find the right buyer.

Bruce I have already ck that site and copper coins site too this maybe a one of a kind.
Or maybe a handful of this type die variety out there,maybe someone will know

Amac - Your coin is a die crack, is common as such, and isn't worth a premium. For that reason, you didn't find one "listed" anywhere. Die cracks are a normal part of die wear.

ok but look like it would come off if I picked at it it must have bent over after minting
I keep because I have seen a lot of die crack just not one like this one, I never will again I guess

It is a die crack, not a lamination. It will not pick or peel off. It's metal from the planchet that struck up into a crack on the die. It's a part of the coin, not something attached to it.
