Maybe a dumb question here but are all the IKEs 40% silver?

They made circulation issues out of a copper/nickel content. They made clad proofs from 1973-1978 and the 40% silver ones were made in both proof (called brown Ikes) and BU (called Blue Ikes) The one that smokeriderdon purchased is known as a brown Ike. These were made from 1971-1974.

Hope this helps.

I won this "absolutely perfect" one last month:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-S-Eise...p=true&rt=nc

Paid only $11.50 for it and it sure is ugly, lots of milky discoloration and still a PF68.

I have come to the decision that any PF or MS 69 examples I find that are reasonably priced and look good I am snagging if I can. I cant imagine that a whole lot more are going to be graded at all, let alone at 69. Time to hoard.

Yes sir! PCGS69DCAM. Had a nice conversation with the gentleman filling in for the shop owner, he is in agreement that the Eisenhower dollar is an under-appreciated series.

I was lucky---very lucky to be talking to my local deli owner a few months ago at the right time. I always ask if they have any 'weird' coins like half dollars or dollar coins to give me in change. Last summer they handed me 2 beautiful IKEs. They were in such pristine condition I had to check if they were proofs.

So far, that is probably my very best unexpected find!
