Well that is why they were so cheap! Maybe keep the bottom two.

I am unsure if the 'green' one is FORTVNA or not..... might be AEQUITAS. Worth figuring out. The over cleaned one I notice is TR P II COS II while the lower left is TR P COS II. Small difference but it indicates a different year (he only survived 17 months as emperor). It also has a portrait that reminds me of the 'Augustus Restitution' series which Nerva issued. They attempted to show a family resemblance. Apparently the Imperial genes were so very dominant that merely adopting yourself into the family made you look a bit like the 'great one'.

Just checked my reference ..... Sear gives the TR P II as indicating the year AD98. As the old boy passed in Jan of 98 I might assume it would be a bit harder to find than the earlier one !

The more I look at the lower left one ..... you must admit it has the genuine 'look' of Augustus. It isn't but I would emphasize that they definitely were making the Augustus restitution issues in the first year of the reign. Which co-incidentally is the period this (correction) TR P COS III 'As' would have been issued.

Nice coins, I would keep the bottom left no matter what you are doing with the other two!

Coins arrived this morning. The green has the most fantastic green patina a touch darker than the photo. Not sure that I can part with any of them.

Nice! I'm glad you bought that lot. I saw it on ebay, too. I briefly considered going for it, but I convinced myself that it would be well out of my price range...$$$ That seller had quite a few interesting lots I believe.

Congrats! All nice coins.

Hope you don't mind me posting my most recent "almost had a Nerva" story.
At NYINC I found a "Nerva" denarius" in a $50 bulk bin. The legend was unbelievably clear! Only thing is the portrait looked wrong; it looked way more like Trajan. After closer inspection with my loop I could see that someone had tooled the legend to say Nerva. I put it back but did think of getting it:)
