3CN in 3CS category, makes me want to block seller if they can't do even a tiny bit of research on what they are selling to get it into the right category.

"RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" "KEY DATE!!!!!!!!!!", especially when it's say, a 1913 p Barber dime or some other common date. also I hate it when people put key dates in their titles to get more attention. their is a guy who keeps comparing his coins to the 1895 o Barber dime on ebay just to get more attention. |

Any sort of hyperbole in the title puts me off straight away, if you feel a need to 'hard sell' it in the title I automatically assume it is not as good as you say it is. Crappy photos I can live with as long as they are still distinguishable (not everyone is good at photography nor has time to reach the high standards some set), no photo of both sides though and I automatically pass. As far as the description goes any of the following will make me hit the 'back' button and move on without giving it a second thought: - insane use of colours or fonts - hyperbole - over the top background stories (I'm thinking of purchasing a coin not your autobiography) - "unsearched" - "not sure if it's real" - " inherited"/"estate sale" - any impression that the photo is a stock photo and not of the actual coin Norm Edited by Spikey Norman

I typically sort by "price plus" hi first on a search and ridiculously priced BIN or even BO coins turn me off first. Well, second to theconsignmenthub's garbage - he lists lots of weirdly plated-looking scrubbed silver that irks me as I think he and his garbage should be booted to protect the unaware! He sells thousands of junk coins.
I don't worry about what the title says typically - like so many seem to above - but look at the coin and price and that weeds out 99% right there.
STOCK PHOTOS is a complete waste as are selling 5,10,20 of a coin from the same pic - I have gotten decent deals that way but it is 50/50 at best. I do not like buying from "slab brokers", IOW.
Beyond that, I don't like sellers listing "no returns" as it means they don't back up their sales - and buying from pics is dodgy in the first place. High s&h or "restocking fee" is another dead give-away of a rip-off seller trying to goose extra profits or hide flaws. Those that do this also do things like sell from stock pics etc.
Blurry or poor pics are next up but I am terrible at taking coin pics myself so I don't get too wound up over that. I'll even ask for better ones at times - and am asked all the time on my listings.
I'm not real keen on a trend I'm seeing where sellers add "almost a MS65" in their verbiage to be a hit on MS65 when it is graded a 64 - or similar deceptive descriptions. I recently saw a coin where the jerk put "should have been graded a 66+" on a 65 coin in the description and never mentions that it is really a 65. Bad form!

When I'm browsing, things that put me off are overly compensative terminology. Alot of what has been listed above, but also when someone just puts no effort in and labels it 'coin' with no description. Lazy description makes me think lazy seller. I just like an honest listing, no misleading word smithery etc. If I were to compare listings to a woman, I don't want her to be lazy and I don't want her to be something she's not-just herself is fine for me.

I hate seeing a nice photo of a coin and then seeing that there are 15 of 32 still available and you're not getting what's in the picture. I hate when they say advertise 1970-2004 mint sets, but in the details you find out that it's not for the whole lot, just a "randomly" selected one.
I've never buy something I can't see first.

I agree that it shouldn't be when it's not, though, and putting it in for the attention just makes the seller look clueless. Some things that put me off would be: stock photos, blurry pictures, "insane use of colours or fonts" as Spiky Norman mentioned (nothing makes me hit the back button faster than a page that makes me physically cringe away from the screen), false advertising (post-mint damage advertised as an error, etc.) and high shipping. I won't even bother to click on an auction title if it has that ridiculous "LQQK" or "L@@K" or anything like that. Nothing screams unprofessional quite like it, and unprofessional goes through to being able to describe a coin accurately and shipping it to the buyer, so I don't even start down that road. "PQ" is another one, as previously mentioned. All caps kind of bugs me, too, but that's probably from knowing from the internet's infancy that it's yelling. If you can't grab someone's attention by a clearly worded description that isn't in all capitals and begs people to L@@K then the coin inside the auction probably isn't worth seeing to begin with. |

One thing I've noticed about ebay that feeback seem to have improved over the years. Now it seems more like normal sentences instead of people that appear to be on drugs. Listings that show the reverse of a coin. In the past when I have bothered to open the listing there is always something wrong with the obverse. I also quit looking when I see "no return".
